I think it will but I have noticed a few trend in people's responses in this column:

1. There is an over optimism in appraisal of .co.in (.in) without a wealth of consistent sales reported in the industry. This is obvious when looking at who the names being appriased belong to.

2. Too much pressure being placed on the domains. If people haven't seen four figure sales after just a week of owning the names people comment that the extentions are over-hyped.

Therefore I've stated that they're being over-hyped and then complaining about people that state this! I'm sorry for this but what I'm trying to say is that domainers need to relax a little and give the extensions some time to breathe and develop.

Then I think they'll both prosper.

The domain will prosper, i get offers very often for mine. Traffic is very good too. Yet for these extensions to flourish they just needs time to mature. So lets have this discussion in a year and i think we will see quite a few domains hitting a good price with the .co.in and .in extension.

I am actually in discussion with couple of mine at the moment possibly in the $xx,xxx range so things can only go forward with a positive vibe in my opnion.

It is also important to develop the names too that way you can get them out there in the market.

Also it is a case of waiting for more indians to get online around 27 million now but estimated around 100 million by 2007 so hang in there do not be tempted to sell them for $xx

Best of luck all

Well Said.

And....

India is one of the top countries in the IT industry.we need to remember that 'it is a developing' country.

"Change is the only thing, constant in this world"

A business mind is always in search of a new ground for the oppurtunities. Internet is going to play vital role in the future. I hardly see ppl who disagree.

So it is very pre-mature to conclude on indian domains. But their value will raise over the time just like any other extensions.

Infact it is just not the case with .in or co.in, any domain extn will leverage the same advantage of demand & suppy.

Also domaining is not for all, it is for the ppl who understand the target market, just like any other investments. (i mean, to be successful in it)

So, i say 'good names' in any tld will prosper.

I agree with mallikrao79. In any business venture it's very important to know your market.

Personally I don't like any extension with two . . .co.in, .co.uk, .co.whatever. I like .in though. It probably will prosper though since India has the second largest population in the world and like some others have said it's a developing country. I see the most potential in .in though.

India domains

I think the .in and .co.in's are both definate winners, but we have to wait at least 1 year, if not more.A person can still find great keywords, or phrases. With the predicted future of India, and the internet, prices can only go up! Unlike the .bz domain, where you can also still find great keywords, people will hopefully want, and buy the India domains. I don't think the domain has to be and Indian word, or term. Since the people of India also speak English, almost anything is possible. I have seem people ask "Is that word Indian?" It doesn't have to be. Besides, India has over 40 major languages, I have read. IMHO

India use to be a British colony so of course a lot of people have very strong English. .bz isn't a very good domain because it's a small country, even though their top two languages are English then Spanish.

Never!
That is what I would have voted if it didn't come up that the poll was closed :(

In the mid-long term, .IN will rule. The shorter the better for direct navigation, basic 101 of inherent human laziness.
