Do you think there is ever going to be any extension that will surpass .COM, even at a price like $0.01 or something?
Clearly, .COM has the appeal and the first mover advantage, so my answer would be No.

Your thoughts and reasoning?

Hi

why are you spamming this section with multitude of erroneous questions on same day?
there should be a limit on number of threads one can create here, in a single day.

imo...

Thought it was ironic, the man who started a thread about new domainers being super optimistic.. creates a thread about every possible thought that crosses his mind.

I agree, let's curb the enthusiasm a bit on the barrage of new threads and at least learn to use the search feature to contribute to already existing threads.

The simple answer is No, for long time , Its like a case on mathematic :

No > Yes

Most of people said :

Doman = Com

Com = Domain

No one TLD will overtake .com, but new TLDS will become more common over time. From an investor standpoint, .com will be King for decades to come.

@abstractdomainer it is a very good question.

obviously NO - It will not occur - at least for paid registration and paid renewals.

as per the above report .com stands taller than any other TLD.
.tk TLD offers free domain that is why next to .com. But, what if China and India start to offer free registration and renewals? Will it topple .com?

Two type of shocks may cause a shift:

- A political one
- Radical change of internet protocols (end of domaining?)

But if u ask me in poker, would someone with 20k chip have any chances of winning the 100k one? Yes, that happens.
