.us Why don't .US names rank on Google?

I've got quite a few .COM names that have achieved great natural search and PR, but I can't seem to get anything from my .US (or .INFO) names. I was wasting my money with a website for RentHomes.us (for search term 'rent homes'), so I took it down and just listed it at Sedo for clicks. Another one (PropertyManagementSoftware.info) which again includes the 'exact' search term, is nowhere in site on Google. I know that both are indexed, but they are pushed down by sites not nearly as optimized or relevant.

Both were optimized very well, and had about 2 years to 'bubble up', but nothing... is there some sort of built-in penalty for .US and .INFO names in Google?

Does anyone else have that problem?

I just took a look and the first one RentHomes.us appears to be banned, there is nothing to be found by doing site: or link: searches.

The second one does appear to be indexed but doesn't hold a lot indexed pages or backlinks.
Perhaps if you ad more fresh content and implement better optimization for your second site you may score better then you do now.

You have some pages in supplemental and one giveaway is that your page titles aren't as unique as they could be.

I see the majority of them holding page titles like Article0009 only with other numbers. That isn't very well optimized.
You should look more into optimizing potential of your site and build more fresh content to get better potential rankings.

But to answer your main question the TLD isn't the problem of websites not being indexed.

I'm with Damion on this one. Duplicate content penalties is what most likely happened. Google has over the past two updates really started to crack down on sites with duplicate content - including dropping them from the index. With another update coming shortly, I suspect many more people here will find their websites have all but disappeared.

Check my recent posts for an article I wrote on this very subject.

My advice to you is to take the websites down as they are now and completely - and i mean completely remake them with original content and layouts if possible. You may lose PR, but at least your websites will be accessible to searchers in google. You may have to for the .us domain do a re-inclusion request as well - be sure to tell them that the website has been completely redone. Sadly, sometimes this is not enough to get your domain re-listed any time soon.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to respond and giving me the help I asked for. Your comments were well taken, and very much appreciated. This one thread has opened my eyes more than reading tons of free advise from 'experts' that are just trying to sell their product.

Especially WhiteBark, I looked into your other posts, web sites, and articles and found a wealth of info.

Good luck to all of you with your sites!
