Hi everyone !

Previously I saw some people saying that google will not give much importance to .in domains unless google.co.in is used.

Well, being a linux lover - I love the term /dev/null. That is very common term and you would know that if you have worked on linux.

Hence, I started my personal project's blog at http://dev.null.in

Today I was very surprised to see the logs of my site. Google ranks me very high !! That came as a pleasant shock.

You can check out the following results :
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=dd+/dev/random&btnG=Search
http://www.google.com/search?q=/dev/null+dd&sourceid=mozilla&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
http://www.google.com/search?q=if+/dev/null&btnG=Search&hl=en&lr=

Whoops ! I am in top-3 on all the pages :)

Very good news for .in lovers :)

Thanks,
Pratik

Extension don't matter at all on a google.com search, but it's suspected that "local" extensions are given a small boost on local google searches..
co.uk on google.co.uk, co.in/.in on google.co.in etc...

Nice :)
I think the rank might be geo-targeted also? You were #5 for the 3rd search when I just ran it, but it might be a temporary thing.
May your luck continue! :)

:) It still shows me on third position if I visit ! Yeah, I guess they must be having some different sorting algorithm based on location.

Thanks,
