Hi, I am just curious about why people buys domains.

Is it...
- to resell?
- to develope?
- to collect?

I my self is a mix of all above. Some domains I buy to resell, some to develope and some I just like to collect.

I have lately realized that, as weird as it might sound, some people buys a domain just to own it. They are not thinking of selling it or developing it, they just like the idea to own it. Like collectors who collect stamps or something like that.

I am one of those people myself.

So why do you buy domains?

I originally bought domains to develop, but after coming to this forum I've found that I could sell them for profit. Right now I'm not registering any more names, until I get off my butt and develop the ones I have. =)

It's an obsolete spelling of develop, might still be used in other countries...

I buy domains for long term investment while allowing the hobby to support itself short term... I sold my first domain for a $492 profit. I put the Original $8 I spent on the name back in my pocket and have played with the profit ever sense. My sales/parking each year pay for my renewals and allow me to buy more names in the aftermarket..

With exception of my time, this hobby/investment has cost me nothing and brought me only joy...

So my answer would be investment... long term... although I do sell domains now..

resell and develop, but mostly as a passion.

They are (relatively) cheap and easy investments that provide multiple revenue streams when utilized properly.

all 3 actually

im collecting a harem of milfs out of some of my dilfs B-)

you need to edit poll really as few people only do one of those 3 imo, sure resell will come out top, but should be choice of all variations

Nah... it will be more interesting to see how many people think of themselves as a developer or reseller first.

I used to buy domains just related to my business and develope product sites...
But my registration fingers work alot faster than my develop fingers.

Then one day I got an email from someone offering me $600 for one of my domains
that I haven't touched in about 6 months... I accepted and had the cashiers check in my hand 2 days later. So that got me started in selling.

well, i can answer that question for you lol, this is 'namepros' a domainers forum primarily so most will resell mainly, but having said that many are now turning to development also. those who arent are either rich or foolish imo as they cant and wont survive without learning to develop or paying for development
parking is dead/dying

this is why its so interesting

the collect thing is interesting also, there are some names i will prob never sell as i am unlikely to get silly money for them which is what it would take for me to sell. some are just great names for development and will get dveloped, or i just want to covet them. or theyre just milfs
:sold:

I regged flyffLove.com for my fiance. I might develop it someday but for now, she just likes the way it sounds (it's a domain for FlyFF, an online game she plays) and right now, it looks like I'm keeping it as a collectible more than anything else.

But I do have MortalKombat.info that is being developed as we speak.
