The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

One reason could be the image is almost 0.5 MB. Thats a lot for an image. Also for the rollover effect, how are you achieving it? Using any java script?

Image size

Each small image is in a layer, that i put the behavior "show hide layer" on The large images on the home page are either rollover images or image place holders I can't remember which. Were you able to go into the site and asee all the pages? Did the images on interior pages load at an ok rate for any of you? What browser were you using?

Here's a guideline I use for images on a site:

  • If it is a transparent image make it a .gif
  • If the image is something small like a gradient make it a gif
  • If the image is a show maker (banner/logo) make it a jpg but try and get away with a 8/10 for quality

Also, check to make sure your site isn't full of images. There are quite a bit of images, in most cases, that can be displayed with CSS instead and cut down load times dramatically.

Hope this helps you out a bit.
