These bao-tailed triple Pinyin project name listed above are just the tip of the iceberg. Why do so many Chinese Internet corporations favor this kind of domain? In fact, there are commonly three reasons:

(Bao is Chinese Pinyin of 宝 which means precious things.)

A. Famous Brand Effect: Chinese famous company Alipay’s project, zhifubao plays a strong guiding role on small and medium-sized enterprises to name their projects, such as zhaocaibao, caifubao, jiedaobao, gongsibao. With continuous promotion of these high-end brands zhifubao, zhaocaibao, caifubao, jiedaobao, gongsibao, more and more enterprises are joining in this naming trend.

B. High Trademark Registration Rate: This type of name is more likely to be registered as a trademark. Payment, rent, part-time job, shopping, financial management, etc, these commonly used industrial words are difficult to be registered as trademarks however if they added “bao” at the end of these words, that would be much easier.

C. High AD Conversion Rate: Good advertisement and brand name without explanation----when you want to do something, you will think of XXbao unconsciously, such as zhifu(支付,payment)----zhifubao.

Why do so many Internet corporations spend five, six or even seven figures fee on these bao-tailed triple Pinyin .com names? There may be these following reasons.

A. .Com Extension: End-users’ have preference for .com extension. We all know that if the prefix is same, .com domain gets the most traffic among other .CN, .Net and.COM.CN name.

B. Price factor: B-tailed LLL.com names are rare (only 400 in world and most of them already built into websites), and the market prices of B-tailed LLL.COM names (bank domain) in general are more than CNY 600,000 which is beyond most of the end-users’ budget.

C. AD factor: triple Pinyin domains mostly conform to project names and could be remembered easily comparing to 5L or 6L .com domains, such as cfbao.com, caifub.com, and English keyword domain such as wealthtreasure.com or English-Chinese domain wealthbao.com.

Interesting to see Caifubao.com there-im sure Caifu.com (wealth) would be exceptionally expensive to buy for a company-so this really makes sense. It also makes sense that the really good "bao"ending pinyins will rise along with others-no different than did NNN after the NN.com got so hot. Thank you.
