Why can I only register with one Registrar?

Hey,

So, i have wanted a specific name for a while.
It expired last year, in July.

So, it should be available right?
Anyway, all the WHOIS's say it's taken, and i can't Reg' it anywhere, except at one Registrar.

Does anyone know why i can only Reg' it at spry.com, and is it worth Registering, or will it get taken off me?

EDIT: On Whois.sc, it does say it's Available, but previously registered.
But it's odd how i can only Reg' it at one Registrar?

On Whois.sc, when you click Buy, it goes to spry.com
So, i presume it's a ok Registrar?

Just odd how it's the only Registrar which shows the name as available.

Well, it could be a problem with whois.sc if whois.sc and spry.com are showing it as available, because I'm guessing they'd use the same whois...

If it doesn't show as available on other whois then it won't be available and its probably just a problem with whois.sc.

Domaintools.com and whois.sc a connected to spry....
I still want to know if anyone has been scammed by them...

To check for certain:
(assuming it is com/net)

Start -> Run -> "telnet rs.internic.net 43"
Wait for it to connect - you will get a black screen.
Type the name of the domain and press enter.
Look at the whois details.

If its .uk, use whois.nic.uk, and if its .biz, whois.biz
