Hi Everyone

I've been in the game for about a year now. I have some really good names (pretty sure of it) and I have them up for sale at SEDO & Afternic but I can't seem to get any of them sold. Here are just some of the names

ArizonaCommerce.com
CasualMatches.com
CityMotels.net
CondoLocater.com
HomeAccessories.biz
InfertilityMedicines.com

I'm not putting ridiculous prices on the name ($1,000 or under). I don't want to sell at eBay since names go for cheap there (good place to buy names but not sell).

Any ideas on where else I can go? Should I try here? Any help would be great. Thanks everyone. :(

Either you need to develop or hustle them out to end users. Unfortunately too many people in this industry (mostly kids I've noticed) think that if they park a name, everyone will come. If it was that easy everyone would be making a killing. Go out & find potential end users who would be interested in the names. Look at some of the better sellers here especially to non-domainers & you see they usually seek & find their buyers through their own marketing strategy.

Sedo and Afternic collectively have millions of domains listed for sale.

Unless your name really stands out as a category defining generic or you have a ton of names listed, you probably won't have much luck at either... Sedo sells 20ish names a day out of 9+ million domains listed there. Gives you an idea of what your odds of making a sale are.

They're both more of a "buyer's marketplace" than a good venue for sellers... It's great as a buyer to have a selection of 9 million names to choose from, but as a seller, that just means you have alot more competition.

You can increase your odds by listing at additional venues such as TDNAM and eBay, but to be honest, with names of that quality, your best odds of making sales are probably right here on Namepros.

I Agree. It is very time consuming contacting potential end users but in the end it can be very rewarding. Good luck mate :)

To me, domain names have a very long market cycle. The $1,000 target that you have for your names would likely only be met by an end user only, not by anybody just trading names, and that might be years from now, so my guess is that you will need patience and perseverance (maintain the names for years) .

I would call myself more of a domain name collector or passive investor for I don't really go after endusers nor offer to resellers (in forums like this). The names I have sold/rented I have kept for 5+ years before I sold them, and really wasn't planning to sell them. My portfolio of names contains mostly names similar to yours in that they are potentially brandable and not typos or something somebody would type in their address bar, hence they have low traffic on their own, but are easy to remember.

With the income from the names I've sold, I have just bought more domain names and will probably have to keep these names for some years before they become more valuable, might be in a business cycle or two... With my names, I've seen three spikes in the offers I've received fro my names; one was in 1999 (when I got started), one was around 2003, and at the end of 2007.

3 months into the year and I'm already over 100k in sales. You can make alot of money selling domains for small profits consistently. I've sold almost 3k domains this year already - not one of which has been to an enduser. At an average $20-$30 profit per name, it adds up...

I would really recommend reselling them for whatever profit you can get and moving on... There's alot more money to be made domaining and going after endusers with anything other than la creme de la creme is a waste of time unless you really have reason to believe someone would want need your names.

have to correct u on that one Reece.
thats way off

if you are just going on the recent sales box, thats just a sample, sometimes they update a couple times in 24 hours, other times like at minute leave for days.
ive sold half a dozen in a week myself lol on sedo
dont forget auctions too

it would be interesting to find out, but across all the different countries etc that sedo covers and sellers i would say they sell hundreds upon hundreds every day

in fact, i will find out. i'll be back
:) (after the weekend tho lol)

I hope this is helpful. If its not what you were after, let me know and I'll delete the post, but:

ArizonaCommerce.com: No easy tie in to a product or service that a specific end user would be promoting.

CasualMatches.com: Brandable but there are probably available alternatives that would prevent a high sale. This is your most developable domain - would bring good money with a motivated little traffic

CityMotels.net: The plural makes it a directory which are harder to sell than a singular travel domain, and the .net hurts.

CondoLocater.com: A typo with 9 Google results

HomeAccessories.biz: Nobody buys .biz

InfertilityMedicines.com: Clearly the best one - I'd go to end users with this one - online pharmacies and the like selling an array of meds. You could get mid-xxxx for this.

About 30 or so sales total this year of .biz on namebio. Mod Reece has had about 100x that by himself this year in .com.

I don't disclose any of my sales, but "mod reece" seems to be some kind of superstar in your eyes.. I sale to end users and sometimes domainers. .biz gets sold tons, there just not as widespread as .com. The ones that do sell, are to end users paying X,XXX - XX,XXX.

I'm by no means a "superstar" and there are MANY domainers on this forum who may prefer to remain anonymous but are much better than me...

Anyway, I do alright for myself..

Sales through Escrow lately:

How about this:

At Sedo, currently 2 .biz auctions, highest is at $120 (the other $80). 150 or so in .com with about 20 $1000 or higher.

But I do like the sounds of it for a new musical:

:music: Mod Reece, Superstar, who in the domaining world do you think you are :music:

Eh, I'm no superstar.. Yet I'm also not the one hoping to sell my names via sedo... :sold:

WOW this is great! Thanks everyone for your open honest opinions.

Interestedenough - You made me feel great about where I am right now. I think I am a collector as well. I'll get rid of some and just keep searching for better ones.

Jacal1 - Thanks for the breakdown of my names.

All of you deserve a round of applause!!!!
