Whois lookup counter tool at GoDaddy

Anybody use the tool that lets you know the number of whois lookups on domains in your GoDaddy account?

The number on one of my domains is going nuts.
It used to get 1-2 lookups a day, it has gone to 20-25 per day in the last couple of days.

I had a couple of domain names do that recently. All of a sudden the lookups went to like 40-50 per day. That lasted 2-3 days and then went back down to 0 or just a couple per day.

I am not sure what caused the spike, and I never received any offers.

That being said, there are times when I see the lookups increase and then shortly thereafter I get one of those famous emails that xxxxx.com is being released back to the market (a slight variation of the domain name I own).

login to gd account

click on domain (get to the area where it shows all domain)
then click on More (should be on top of your domain list to the right)
There you can select to export a list and when you do so select all the whois counter boxes

Wow, that sounds like a cool little tool. I will have to check that out.

Problem is, the stats are not really that reliable since a lot of bots crawl through all the WhoIs queries for all kinds of reasons.. sometimes with more crawl traffic, sometimes with less.. hence the fluctuation in the stats...

Godaddy search totals have been declining sharply for me the last few months. It's extremely low this month. In fact an all-time record low. Down 80% or more. Anyone got inside info?
