This was written by an African American gentleman in Texas.
What a great sense of humor and creativity!

When I born, I BLACK,

When I grow up, I BLACK,

When I go in sun, I BLACK,

When I cold, I BLACK,

When I scared, I BLACK,

When I sick, I BLACK,

And when I die, I still BLACK.

You white folks....

When you born, you PINK,

When you grow up, you WHITE,

When you go in sun, you RED,

When you cold, you BLUE,

When you scared, you YELLOW,

When you sick, you GREEN,

When you bruised, you PURPLE ,

And when you die, you GRAY.

So who you callin' colored folks?

Racism is hatred or intolerance of another race. This quote is written by an African American, about African Americans. He's merely showing how people with a 'racist' mindset need to rethink their point of view.

Wow... a powerful yet light hearted introspective.

It's funny that it is funny. I think the reason we can say it is funny is because of the author's color. Unfortunately I also feel if a Caucasian had authored the poem some would find it racist.

So ..... it's funny that it is funny.

With all respects Gene

I'm not saying that's racist, infact, that's 100% not racist, my point is he is making himself stand out if you understand? For example, i call somebody "black" and i get "You can't say that! They're <stupid term here> you racist!" so then i say "He's coloured" and i get exactly the same thing. If people that weren't white just ignored when somebody said "Oh, that black person" or whatever, we would have so much less racism.

I have nothing against Black people / Asians / foreigners, whatever you call them it just gets on my nerves so much when people think somebody using the "Incorrect term" is racist.

Sure attacking somebody or harassing them because of their race is racist, but anything less, to me isn't. I could go on for so long how i can't stand the idea of racist, how it is perceived by society today.

What I'm trying to say is, the reason we use the phrase "Colored" is because whatever we say, we're branded a racist. In my experience anyway, and it's beyond annoying, infact, if i was to decide to hate a certain race of people, that would be why.

Since it is an African American author using the term "colored"
to refer to white folks - does that make him a racist?

NO!!! It's just a joke/observant analagy there is no insults
intended by his writings - lighten up!

Great find Gene

American English is Colored...
this reminds me, a while back, I was debating about how to pronounce letter Z to a Canadian... is it "Zee" or "Zed"

My only point that I'd like to make is that as it's "author unknown", we can only assume that the author may or may not have been black.

I tried Googling the origin of this anecdote and was unable to establish it's origin.

I've been called milky before and I don't give a shit... I am white. Why are some people so offended about what colour they are/we're born?
