I dunno sometimes...

Reading the news daily (being an ardent news freak) I often pick up things which.. while obscure or of little value.. often, when put into perspective.. is extremely disheartening...

today's example of how stupid, ignorant and rediculous America has become..and is becoming more so every day we let the minority rule the majority... (minority being the people who dont hold enopugh political clout, so they bitch and moan loudly enough until people bend over backwards to please them.. often at a price paid by the majority... which is exactly the opposite of how this nation is set up to run wherein the MAJORITY rules.)

the link is a story from today wherein a white student from Africa is nominated for African American of the year at his high School. For this stunt.. he receives 2 days suspension.

tell me, who is more african than him? I assure you, none of the "black" students at his school are (assuming none are from africa (read: born here))

Since when does reality take a back seat to being PC? I know this is an everyday occurance.. but how f'ing stupid is this? Why do we, the American people allow ourselves to be bullied to a point that being from Africa doesnt mean your African American, it just means your another white guy....

I, as a White Californian (albeit, currently in Oregon) am a minority there... so where are my minority benefits? (hispanics now rule california with a 65% majority)

When will BET be protested against for all of it's white jokes?

When do I or my children get college or Job Preferances for being white in a "Brown Mans world"?


I could give two turds about race.. really. Im just more or less perturbed by the assinine behaviour not only of our "minority" Americans and our liberal "kiss ass for a vote" politicians than anything....

Actually, I can see where the school is coming from. The award was established to encourage african-americans. The south african is just african, not "african-american". Everyone knows that "african-american" is just a PC way of referring to black americans. Like if there were an award setup for "american-indians", you can't have an immigrant from India apply for it - everyone knows that's not what "american-indian" means.

Furthermore, it could have been insulting (from the black people's point of view) because the student in question comes from a country only very recently rid of apartheid. I imagine there's a very good chance that the boy still has very strong racist sentiments that could have shown through the posters they put up.

The posters were mocking the award. That's hurtful. This isn't an example of PC balderdash, so much as it is an example of juvenile insensitivity. They exploited a colloquialism to make a joke of something important to those that support the award (encouraging achievement for young black students).

Flatly boneheaded if you ask me. Sounds innocent, and I think it was, but really bone headed. If there was an "outstanding female student achievement award" and the kid dressed up as a girl, and plastered posters... marring the dignity of the award, it would be equally bad. --So happens, posing as "african-american" in this case was a fairly easy "joke".

If you really take offense, you should start now. Its generally a black comedian thing that often catars to white audiences too. I've seen white comedians and latino comedians float racial jokes too. I don't think these jokes are funny... though the lighter ones seem really targeted at trying to loosen tension. I generally turn the channel.
