I found an existing site that uses a nice domain and they have a message on their site that they are closing down and I was wanting to email them to see if they want to sell the domain or not, but I'm wondering who the best person to contact in this instance would be? They seem to be a pretty large company.

CEO? COO? President? Owner?

Any advice on this matter?

Thanks!

Check the whois data. If they aren't using privacy you should be able to find the admin and tech contacts. Additionally, you can also email the webmaster. Some sites have the webmaster info at the bottom of each page. As already suggested, you can also call and ask to speak with the person handling the website and domain name.

I'm more asking who the best person in the company would be to contact about this, I won't bother with the whois details as the email is "staff@........"; just wondering if anyone has experience with this kinda thing and who the best person to contact within the chain would be. As I said, it's a pretty large company.

Oh well.... guess I'll just try my luck with whoever. :)

The owner is very often the president. I'd contact the owner and/or the president. Just because they are closing down doesn't mean the domain name would be cheap.
