I am looking to improve my outbound process.

Who is concerned the best in any business?

I recommend taking a look at Domain Sherpa's archives. There are some interviews focused on outbound sales. Also, Domain Name Wire has a podcast or two on the subject.

Beyond that, there is a long thread somewhere on this site, complete with discussions about email templates and phone scripts.

I also remember the guy from Park Logic has some really good articles about outbound on his blog site.

There are people buying $2 domains flipping them for $10 in and out. Some domainers would do more turn over just running the cheap end and in doing so these are the ones building up reputations. Not sure if it is outbound or just auctions but plenty are flipping on the cheap.

Outbound domain name is a rough task, nowadays unfortunately plenty of rubbish stuff

So don't waste your time without a "good name" to promote to a selected target

There are number of great outbound domainers, I would have to agree with Abdul @Federer is up there with the amount of consistent sales he does. As suggested look up Domain Sherpa archives and learn from the way Ali and some others approached outbound.
