i stumbled onto an interesting list of who holds the most .us domain names and found my name on page 4 http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/people/edelman/dotus/US-topregistrants-l-4.html

interesting list but terribly outdated as many of the names it shows i own have long since found new owners --- this list must have been compliled soon after the extension was introduced

I too stumbled upon this list several months ago. It's cool to see what kind of niches some people went with. It's helpful when looking for ideas for names.

This is a great list, and has been discussed before as a great source of previously registered .us names that may have expired/dropped and be free to reg.
One nice thing being that you know that someone thought the name was worthwhile before, so you do have something of a confirmation of perceived value. Albeit if the name dropped, it wasn't a gold-mine

Oh come on you're better than that! We all know that some names drop accidently but get scooped up soon-after. It still technicly dropped!

Typically it's not the serious domainer who lets a great domain drop...
Most on that list would be classified as "serious" domainers...
But yes, names do accidentally drop sometimes... I think I might still be missing the point of your comment... Clarify?

I'm just saying that names that fetch at least a few thousand drop all the time. Didn't something like A1.com drop recently? I don't pay attention to well to that stuff but I'm sure I'm on the right track.
