WhiteHouse.com (the former porn site) is back up for sale. After laying dormant for a while, it was a sometimes political blog. But now it's just parked and up for sale.

Last time it was for sale, he turned down offers to people who wouldn't reveal their identity and received an ethics award for it: Ethics Heroes: Dan Parisi

This HAS to be one of the most valuable names in the .com world. It's one of the few irreplaceable ones. For example, if someone had Car.com, you could still get by with Cars.com or Auto.com or Autos.com.

There is no replacement for WhiteHouse.com

Who would buy it?....An Oil Company to turn it into a platform to push positive views of Big Oil...the same for an insurance company or a prescription drug company....maybe a political think tank....or hell, why not the GOP?

MY OPINION: THIS IS A 10 MILLION DOLLAR NAME.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Because of it's past, it's not that valuable any more.

You cant really use it for what it's meant to be used for (the white house) as i'm sure those politicians would have something to say, they do have plenty of time on there hands, like 99.9% of politicians.(they ruined the country so they will ruin this domain also)

Better of left as a blank page. makes a bigger statement than anything else :)

Not in a million years will this go for over $100,000 IMHO!

In a sense, this could be replaced with WhiteHouses.com and I think this domain has more patical usage. I'd rather have it than WhiteHouse.com. How can you develop it? You could make an anterior site with the -es domain but you could only do one thing with the sans -es and even with that: What would ya do?

Unless the GOP or other Government entity stepped in as a buyer, I couldn't see this hitting $30,000. But there are eccentric ppl in this world who'd be willing to pay $100+ for ePepsi.com or $5,000 (or so claimed) for the worthless MichaelJacksonSecrets.com so who knows?

Have to love how people comment about the "worth" of a domain. Interesting name indeed.

Parisi's a pretty cool guy.
I own a very relevant variant of a particular 'theme name' that he happens to be a large portfolio holder of, but I wasn't sure how to handle it. I emailed him, figuring that there wasn't much chance he'd get back to me. He did, though, and helped me out with a decision.

Let me guess - Sucks.com?

As for this going for 30k or 100k. Guys. Be serious. I have personal knowledge that over $2M has been offered recently. By more than one buyer.

I expect this will sell for high $xxx, xxx if he isn't selling to porn co's or terrorists as he states. Looks like its at parked.com on a non-adult lander so guess it must get a good amount of type-ins looking for the government office over the expired adult traffic it must still get...

I would also acknowledge there is no direct replacement for whitehouse.com, as the post above proves... -It's somewhat of a 'vanity/trophy' domain and I think there are many better names available for the money this one will sell for.

it's worth millions in the eyes of some "geopolitical" end-users.

This is why I said $30k. Now, let's say this WAS sucks.com. That is brandable and very versatile. WhiteHouse.com is not versatile and it doesn't have much branding potential (if you look at it in the right light). Surely it'll probably sell for $80,000-200,000 but if it was bought by a sane enduser, I couldn't see anything above $30,000 in a realistic sense.

^^ millions are paid by collectors of art, cars, memorabilia etc. to have bragging rights over having a one of kind piece. I have to think that the bragging rights of a domainer or a techie would push the sale price of TajMahal.com Kremlin.com BuckinghamPalace.com or whitehouse.com pretty high.

If you've ever been to an auction you know that some times buyer's ego's will push prices way past what would be considered 'fair value'

And this is what I was speaking of when I mentioned a sane enduser.

It's worth WAAAY more than 30k just based off of a LOW end PPC multiple. Waaay more.

*raises eyebrows* With a Overture of about 5,000 and a max PPC bid of 20 cents, I don't see what argument you have over my $30,000 guess. I don't see your justification. It WILL likely sell for more simply for vanity purposes but IMO unless you're extremely interested, $30,000 could be better spent.

Not a chance, this is a "trophy name", sounds impressive in a conversation but little substance behind it.

PPC probably is the most obvious use because it is just spillover/typo traffic rather than something with real commercial basis. It has much the same issues as IRS.com in my view and does have legal issues. It looks like the current owner is targeting it pretty carefully.

Not sure I see why of them would want to buy it, they'd probably be accused by the media of squatting if they did and I'm not sure I see any benefit either. Would value it at $200k-300k, I think the most likely buyer is a domainer who want this "cool" piece of property to add to their collection.

With those stats it isn't going to be worth under 30k. I think it would probably make close to that in a year. The source I looked at showed 10,700 though. 30k is almost as far out as the $10million guy.

The biggest question here is: What will the buyer do with it? $30,000+ could be feasible if this was bought by an entity who found a good way to monetize it but I think chances are--yet no guarantee--this will sell to an investor/collector, as you suggested, and he might not do anything to monetize other than a parking page.

The fact is under 30k is not realistic for buyers who just plan on parking it. Like I said before 30k is probaly not much more than a years revenue.

Seller should pitch it to WhiteHouse.gov, if that doesn't workout, why not pitch it to FOX NEWS!, Glenn Beck, or a conspiracy website.

Precisely. That's my argument.

Seems you are running a very different argument now then as you claimed previously,

"Unless the GOP or other Government entity stepped in as a buyer, I couldn't see this hitting $30,000."

No, my argument is the same as it had been: Unless this was bought for development, $30,000 is unjustified.

Well you must be misreading my posts, I'm saying under 30k makes no sense, it would barely be a years parking revenue. There will be people lined up around the block to buy it at that price.
