WhiteHouse.com (the former porn site) is back up for sale. After laying dormant for a while, it was a sometimes political blog. But now it's just parked and up for sale.

Last time it was for sale, he turned down offers to people who wouldn't reveal their identity and received an ethics award for it: Ethics Heroes: Dan Parisi

This HAS to be one of the most valuable names in the .com world. It's one of the few irreplaceable ones. For example, if someone had Car.com, you could still get by with Cars.com or Auto.com or Autos.com.

There is no replacement for WhiteHouse.com

Who would buy it?....An Oil Company to turn it into a platform to push positive views of Big Oil...the same for an insurance company or a prescription drug company....maybe a political think tank....or hell, why not the GOP?

MY OPINION: THIS IS A 10 MILLION DOLLAR NAME.

I can practically guarantee it'll sell for over $30,000. My only issue is that the buyer needs a development plan. And it might just be me but I could find better ways of spending the $100,000+ this will more than likely sell for.

Well you must be misreading my posts, I'm saying under 30k makes no sense, it would barely be a years parking revenue. There will be people lined up around the block to buy it at that price.

Once again that is totally different from what were were saying earlier,

Unless the GOP or other Government entity stepped in as a buyer, I couldn't see this hitting $30,000.

Anyway it sound like you've changed your tune from your previous valuation, which is a good thing.

Not a chance, this is a "trophy name", sounds impressive in a conversation but little substance behind it.

PPC probably is the most obvious use because it is just spillover/typo traffic rather than something with real commercial basis. It has much the same issues as IRS.com in my view and does have legal issues. It looks like the current owner is targeting it pretty carefully.

Not sure I see why of them would want to buy it, they'd probably be accused by the media of squatting if they did and I'm not sure I see any benefit either. Would value it at $200k-300k, I think the most likely buyer is a domainer who want this "cool" piece of property to add to their collection.

With those stats it isn't going to be worth under 30k. I think it would probably make close to that in a year. The source I looked at showed 10,700 though. 30k is almost as far out as the $10million guy.

It makes over $100k per year PPC.

I imagine Chavez would be willing to offer several million, just to use the site to insult America. I hope the seller considers the long term affects of who this domain gets sold to.

Thanks, where did you here the figure? Bit surprised it is as high as that. If correct I think it would be worth more like 500-600k to a domainer.

I'd fathom a guess that anyone running for president in the future could use that name to virtually guarantee a strong politcal position in the race. The presidential race is a popularity contest after all. I'm not sure how much candidates raise/spend but I'm pretty sure $2Million is chump change for a presidency. I don't know what it will sell for but I'd bet McCain or Palin would easily drop a few million (of their followers money of course) to have the honor of its ownership.

My prediction $5 Million, the deal will go down privately with nobody knowing who the new owner really is until the running heats up for the next presidential election, and it will end up being owned by a subsidiary of "the committy to elect ????? president" Of course it will appear as an impartial news source, but it will aimed to help one candidate and injure the others.

The fact that it was a former porn site hasn't ruined the name. Bieng blacklisted in google wouldn't even hurt a direct navigation site. In fact with a bit of spin republicans could make that sound like they'd done a good thing by liberating the name from evil doers.

How do people think up all this stuff? Maybe if the only people voting were domaininers it would "virtually guarantee a strong politcal position". I think the average person on the street would have a viewpoint somewhere between "who cares" and "isn't the site whitehouse.gov"?

It is likely a small % of their budget but I fail to see how it would be money well spent.

I bet T. Boone Pickens buys it and puts his propaganda on there.

Seeing as it was previously a porn site, I'm betting the Dems pick it up for a cool 3.5 mil.

What should be done with WhiteHouse.com?

Turn it into a "transparent" community site, for the people by the people of this country. Have updated content on what bills are trying to get passed, and what's trying to be outlawed by the current administration, and have polls that all U.S. citizens can vote on to see what American citizens really want. Have information about everything the white house doesn't want people to know about. Obama "promised" transparency, and that's what I think the website should be; a transparent, honest reflection of the administration, government, and politicians that rules over this country.

They'd be dubbed a cybersquatter... not good... Your $5 Million prediction is absurd and laughable.
