Given the lack of availability of the aforementioned domains, as well as the problems Google had with the "GMail" trademark, I would expect them to come up with something along the lines of "googlehosting" - no domain containing "Google" will be registered by anyone else due to Trademark restrictions, so they can pretty much pick and choose any domain they like with the word "Google" in it.

googlehost.info is not taken :P maybe they will use .info :P

I hope they do - the sooner .info becomes a recognised extension, the sooner half my domain portfolio will go up in value!

Exactly what I was thinking.

I can't see them using hosting.google.com - surely they would choose a brandable name so that they can... erm... brand it?

I doubt google would ever get into hosting, its too labour intensive for them.

Well they already have http://googlepages.com ... Not hosting, but quite similar :)
They also provide video hosting services (ok, video sharing - but that's almost the same).

So they're a little bit into hosting already.

Why would they make a new brand name? They are Google.. that IS their brand.

I'm not talking about rebranding Google, I'm talking about branding their hosting service. Their e-mail service is gmail, their shopping service is froogle, their hosting service would be... hosting.google.com? :|

They have those names for them, but their URLs are mail.google.com and froogle.google.com. Most of their services are service.google.com.
