.mobi When & how: The first mainstream .mobi story

when will the first maintream .mobi story come along and how? Let me know if I've missed it but I think we have only been seeing PRs and niche website news.

How about a CNBC segment or a cover blurb or feature on business2.0 or businessweek?

My guess is when the premiums start selling.

There was a Forbes cover story awhile back. NBC has developed .mobis for it's entire line-up including hits such as Heroes. Disney is exclusively using .mobi for online promotion of their High School Musical 2 movie/tv show. Plenty of good quality news lately :D

Actually, there's been so much news about .mobi lately, I'm not sure if I can get any of the facts straight or right... TMI :D

If you're interested in the general public awareness though, I'd have to say it must be like 1% as a maximum at the moment. I have not seen any big time news targetting your average mom and pops so to speak.

yeah - thats what Im talking about - or at least the larger biz/tech community.

Im familiar w/ all the news out - but it is mostly press releases getting distributed - which are good and all but they are initiated by the company benefiting from the news.

I am curious about a media outlet choosing to do a story/feature - like the forbes snippet, but bigger....

just anticipating that 1% growing - that is what all of us really need. mainstream understanding/acceptance.

but every little bit helps and Im sure its coming - but that was the point of the thread - to discuss when - I think the premium sales will help.

i'd say its far less than 1% in the circles. No one has a clue. Its fine, gives time to develop and also the aftermarket sames down. most just want to see it rise by the time of renewal season to justify those regs as their seeds have sprouted into fine little .mobi's.

its coming out to the masses very soon though, i hear them coming. i think less than 12-15 months. I say much sooner than that.

One thing I would love to see is "Idol.mobi" or something to that effect being promoted on the American Idol TV show. They have people text their votes to a number on a cellphone now, I think it would be much better for people to be able to actually go to their mobile site and vote. While there, they could buy things, do other things on the site, etc., etc. I hope they do it.
