When does a domain really expired and available for register?

Hello,
I would like to know how do I find out when the domain is really expired and available for register? I have found quite lot of domains that are already expired, but it is still not available for register. I remember I read somewhere about there being Pending period? (or something like that)
Can someone please give me details on it? Thanks a lot.

Its something like. The domain expires then their is like a 30 day hold period and a 60 day deletion period. Dont quote me on that but its something that affect. Basicaly its about 3 moths.
