Hello:
Hopefully this won't sound too dumb but I have found a domain that shows it's in the redemtion period. It shows it expired on 09-06-2011. It shows registered through tucows. I thought it was 30 days from not paying for renewel until it would be available.

Thanks in advance

Usually registrars give a few weeks for renewal. Then many registrars offer it at auction (can take another week or more). If not re-sold at auction, then it is released back to the registry and goes to 'redemption period' for approx 31 days (for .com .net .org .biz .info). Last it is placed into 'pending delete' status for approx 6 days.

Depending on registrar time-frames, it could be anywhere from 50-70+ days after expiration before it is actually available again.

Usually it's somewhere between 75-80 days after expiry that a domain drops, if it's not renewed or sold at auction.
