I'm curious what everyone thinks about this.

At what point do you consider yourself a professional in the domain industry?

Is it the amount of domains you own?

The number of domains you sell?

Revenue you make or Popularity or status in the industry?

What makes someone a pro in your eyes?

Please share your thoughts.

I think there are multiple layers to be a professional and each have to be obtained to be a true professional.

The ability to look at a list of names for sale and pick out the gems that have potential for an upside.

The ability to negotiate with sellers and buyers

The ability to find the proper prices and places to list your names

The ability to do the research/work required day in and day out

The ability to develop names to turn a bad investment etc

The ability to Network with other people in the business "crucial skill"

The list can go on and on but there is no definitive way to claim someone is or isn't a professional. Some will say it's money they make if it's more then they spend = Professional. Some will say well if you can pay your living expenses then you = Professional. Honestly I think there may be about 100 true professionals in the domain business most of which don't need to tout about their success.

Hope that helps and I know a bit long winded but I wanted to chime in ;)

You are called a professional, if you own a .PRO domain. Otherwise, you are an amateur.

Professional to me has nothing to do with income, I consider someone a professional if they conduct their business honestly and are trustworthy.

Once they step up to selling domains in the xxxx-xx,xxx range or better than I call them PPD (Professional Playa Domainers) :hehe:
