question What's your wholesale STR?

I see a lot of great info on the forums about people's average STR for domains at retail pricing, but next to nothing on what sort of STR to expect when selling at wholesale prices.

As someone who has only a handful of wholesale sales, it would be really interesting to hear of experiences from people who have had some success.

It's dependent on the names ofc. But lets say for example you have a 1% STR selling domains at $3,000 on various marketplaces. What could you reasonably expect if you were to reduce all of these prices to $300, ten times lower - would your STR for these domains likely rise to 10%? How much lower? Or maybe even higher in some cases?

Thanks

It's not possible to test, because you might lose your best assets for cheap and then game over.
I would assume the STR would definitely be higher, but then again people don't just buy domains, with the exception of Investors.
It's about timing mostly and who is the buyer and seller. A name could be sold for 2K, 5K or even 10K. Depends.

Thanks. The reason I ask is I had a couple of truly awful domains which I didn't expect to ever sell. They were bought in my first week of domaining. So instead of $1,000, I priced them both down to $100 and they both sold within a week.

It could just be a fluke, but I'm going to try and do a bit of testing myself. The plan is to reduce every single domain I have at $2,000 or under down to 10% of the retail value for a little while, and keep everything above 2k at their normal prices. At the very least, it will be interesting to see how things work out.

What happened I'm curious to know

Hi, Chris

Wholesale STR rarely scales in a straight line because liquidity rises, but the buyer pool shifts dramatically.

How long do you plan to do this for?
