Hi everyone,

I wanted to open a discussion about two of the most common selling approaches in domaining, especially for those who are just getting started.

End-user selling means reaching out directly to businesses or individuals who would actually use the domain typically resulting in higher prices, but requiring more time and effort to find the right buyer.
Do you think this approach is better when having a small domain portfolio of max 10 domains ?

Wholesale selling means selling to other domainers or investors at a lower price often seen as a quicker exit, but is it really? That brings me to my questions:
  1. Is wholesale always faster, and can you be sure the domain will actually sell?
  2. In which situations is each approach more beneficial?
  3. For beginners specifically which route would you recommend starting with, and why?

Looking forward to hearing your experiences and insights.

Hi

end user selling Does Not mean reaching out directly to anyone.
the phrase s/b selling to endusers

you need to get understanding about terms you’re trying to use, before attempting to state definitions for them

imo…

Actually, to sell to an end user, you don't necessarily need to reach out directly. You can definitely make a sale without outbound contact. In domaining, the ultimate goal should always be targeting end users, as that's how you achieve the highest possible prices.

However, as a backup strategy, you can always use wholesale platforms to offload domains that aren't moving. It’s a great way to keep your liquidity flowing when an end user sale hasn't happened yet.

Thanks @rmg for your reply ,

I’m asking because my portfolio is still limited, and I’m considering whether wholesale selling could help me liquidate some domains, free up capital, and reinvest into acquiring more domains.

Do you think this strategy can help generate faster sales, or would it be wiser especially for someone newer to domain investing to focus on end-user sales instead?

If you have more experience in this field, I’d really appreciate your perspective and any advice you’d be willing to share.

Wholesaling practically doesn't exist anymore. No one left worth dealing with for wholesale. Everyone just handregs 20 domains in a day and then quits domaining the next year, but not before posting here for a few months like they're some sort of zealot always reminding us like a chorus that .com is king.

Still all better than the 66% bots that make up the forum now. Mods seem to be thankful just for the fake life.

Still waiting for that one bot account to make the RIP namepros thread

It's true that wholesale pricing allows for a faster liquidations, but whether it makes sense or not really depends on the quality of the domain.

For a premium/high-quality domain, selling at wholesale doesn't make much sense. If you hold out for an end user, it’s just a matter of time before you can sell it for a much higher price.

On the other hand, if the domain is of lower quality or harder to sell to a specific brand, then a wholesale strategy can be a great move. As you mentioned, it’s a good way to free up capital and reinvest it into better domains.
