Hey seo wizards,

I need a bit of advice... Basically, I purchased my desired domain when the .me extension went for sale ( http://MuayThai.me ), and built a website (as best as I could) around the domain.
What I am aiming for, really, is to get the site listed on page one of the google rankings for my desired keywords - muay thai. In case you don't know, muay thai is Thai Boxing, a popular martial art primarily known for being the favorite choice of mma fighters for a stand-up martial art.

There is obviously some stiff competition for these keywords, with some well-established 10 y/o sites featuring on the first page of google...

I've tried as best as I could to do some seo on my site ; I've listed it with the main directories; i've written a couple of articles and tried to get some links to the site ; and I've even advertised it through facebook for 20 days or so...

Currently, two months after it went online, the site is getting a mere 30 visitors a day despite my best efforts (well, I work full time, so I cannot devote all that much time to it). It is nowhere to be seen on the google rankings for 'muay thai'.

I know it's early days, but I am getting a little discouraged after all these efforts, and I am also a little lost as to what my best course of action is now...

Given that, as I said, my time is somewhat limited, what would you advise me my best course of action is?
Should I keep advertising on facebook ($5 a day will bring me around 300 visitors) in the hope I end up making that money back later. Should I just keep on trying to get links, publishing articles... etc.

Basically, has anyone got similar experiences? What sort of effort will it take to get to page 1 of the rankings, and to hope for decent revenue through consistent traffic (the site is only monetised through adsense and referrals)? Do you think, also, I can make a reasonable second income through this type of site?

Any help/advice/suggestions you could offer would be extremely welcome!

Social marketing like facebook, orkut, myspace, bebo and so on is good but only if you are targetting users that are really interested about this site .. Try some other SEO methods too and do as much promotion as you can .. Facebook is not the only way to get backlinks here as this net world is very vast now

Keyword research

Do some research on some other muay thai phrases that are well searched.

muay thai training -one example- adwords tool say about 6600 searches per month in the USA.

adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Build your backlink strategy around these phrases and MAYBE you'll see some traffic growth in a few months.

Also how are you going to make money off the site? Considerr that when you build a strategy (ie custom muay thti shorts well I'd build a strategy around muay that phrase 4400 searches a month in the USA).

Honestly you ain't going to be ranking for muay that anytime soon but hopefully you can rank on some other phrases in a few months.

Well... that's kinda what I wanted to know... not even with 300 daily visitors for -say- a year?
I could buy that kinda of traffic if it were to produce tangible results... It would also be far less time consuming...

samnoyoun:

Pick your keywords you want to rank for, make sure they are similar.

Build as many backlinks as you can around them keywords.

Article Submission,Social Bookmarking and Directory Submissions combo will get you there.

This may take time to get where you want, but as they say all great things happen to them who wait.

Good Luck with your site
