I bought some really great thai names (in thai language) and couldnt understand why I wasnt getting any traffic because one of is the most popular beach resort area in Thailand. Well I asked some of my thai friends and they said thats because thais dont type the addresses in thai ever. They said theres no such thing as a website with a thai address. They always have english addresses even if the content is all in thai. So I did a search on some thai letters and chinese letters and noticed there are no websites in google results that are in either of these languages, even if the content is entirely those languages. I dont get it? International domains a waste of time or what? Or just a waste of time for parking? Maybe they are still good if google ranks it better than english addresses as a keyword if you were to develop a site based on that keyword all in that language. I dont know.

So you mean internationalized domain names? That is another area that domainers explore.
and We have die-hard fans/investors believ'ing in its future.

International domains a waste of time or what?

Well, English is the default language of the tech face of the internet and people have always used English in their browser's address bar to access any web page. There are many (I bet most) internet users (I mean normal users who turn away from sites like NP ;) ) who don't know anything about IDN's, not even their existence!

English is default language of the web. The thing is people who doesnt belong to thailand are not intrested in the domain name and most specifically couldnt understand it.

Many of my best traffic names (parked) are IDN's with non-English characters. There is definitely type-in traffic.

XuryaX i dont understand what you mean and Josh can you share what language you are referring to. Thai is definately not used because I cant find a single website in google rankings that is in thai and I live in Thailand so I suppose I showed a little favoritism/interest towards that than any other language but I know the people I asked help in translating translated correctly because they speak thai alot better than they speak english. Maybe its just thai language. Most thais in thailand speak english so thats probably it.
