Let's say if ABC.com is valued at US 10,000.00, what will be the likely prices for ABC.net and ABC.org?

.com is king and will be for a long time. The .org is intended for non-profits which of course don't have a lot of money to spend on a domain. Also, .net is the next best thing.

ABC.com $10k
ABC.net $2k
ABC.org $100

This is not set in stone as it is only ever worth what a buyer is willing to pay. Also, you need to evaluate the market demand for the domain. Some people are not thinking when they buy a domain and people believe others will like the same dome with a different extension. "If only it was that easy".

Good luck!

IMO, you have .net and .org rankings in reverse order. Assuming the .org is in a category it does well in (i.e. health, disease, government, financial and a few others - not only non-profits) the .org would have significantly better value.

In addition, with the 1000s of new tld's .net will suffer from major dilution but .org and .com are likely to be far less impacted since they have their own identities. One more reason dot-org is good is it tends to get direct navigation traffic second overall to dot-com. However, .net rarely if ever gets typein traffic.

Do you agree with what David G said? I think we need more opinions and feedbacks since it affects most of us who are in one way or another involved in this domain business.

The extension name .org stand for organization and is supposed to be for non-profit entities. The extension name .net stand for network and is usually used for a network of sites.

Anyone can register a .net though, only non profits are allowed to own a .org. I don't know many non profits that would be willing to pay above registration fee of a domain let alone $1k. I have actually seen non profits have actually added on suffixes to buy a .org becuase it was too expensive to buy a domain from a reseller. A company that would want the .com but a competitor has it would settle for .net but they can't own a .org. I would steer clear of non-profits when domaining.

Actually, .orgs do very well in the aftermarket, especially if the term is appropriate to non-profits.

Social.org just sold for $149,000, the .com $2.6 million.

Don't underestimate the power of .org!

http://www.idnx.com/

for exact same keyword

.net - 75% less than .com - $2,500 using your example of $10,000 for .com
.org - 84% less than .com - $1,600 using your example of $10,000 for .com

On average.

It all depends on the name itself IMO.

Some names will have more value as a .org, and some more as a .net. It just depends on the name itself, and how it can be used.

Now when it comes to certain areas such as LLL's, .net stills hold more value. Existing and start-up companies tend to stay away from .org unless their their indusrty fits the extension. The net gives a broader spectrum of use.

I seem to agree that in different cases dot org holds more value however dot net has been losing steam and I see people dumping most of their dot net domains. For ex: I have seen some entertainment sites using a .org and then saying on their site that 2 percent of their profit goes for a specific charity. So nowadays many more companies including xxx sites use dot org and they claim they are contributing a certain percentage of their income to a charity or you can choose the particular charity. Very clever indeed. It also brings a certain good publicity and view to the company.

I myself hate absolutely hate dot net then again that is an opinion. It reminds me of Doctors who have D.O. Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine vs M.D. Medical Doctor after their names. Whenever I see a D.O. in public after a doc name I automatically think this person did not get into med school so he went through a back door. The same with dot net my hate for them is bc dot net screams loud that the dot com was not available so therefore dot net was the second best choice. Sorry if I offended any docs here.

I have some health and disease domains where I own both .com and .org and my stats show sometimes dot-org can get more typeins vs dot-com, with basically zero for dot-net

There are a number of well known health websites who use dot-org exclusively so the public tends to think of the .org extension for typeins.

P.S. to Zoomactive: I believe a small fraction of developed .org sites are non-profit related.
