What should NamePros add?

NamePros is working on a lot of new and exciting features, and many of them are thanks to member suggestions in our Comments and Feedback section.

In the e-mail notifications (and possibly the notifications/alerts), can we get a mention of the forum/sub-forum that the thread was posted in? For new threads perhaps...

It's easy to miss, but it should be there. If you're positive that it's missing, please forward the email to [email redacted] along with a message explaining what is missing.

Currently, you can determine popularity of the most popular tags using the tag cloud (bigger text means more popular) on this page:

• https://www.namepros.com/watched/tags

Each tag also indicates how many times that tag has been used (max. of 200) and how many visits there have been to that tag. Example:

We will certainly look into expanding the functionality and statistics available for tags.

First of all, is there some kind of bugtrack to have an overview of requests (dupe requests are bound to be made) ?

We do this internally. When the same suggestion is made, we add any new elements to the suggestion rather than duplicating it.

In the past, in the former version of the forum (Vbulletin), you got a warning when trying to bump an old thread (no posts made for 180 days). Sometimes newbies (or absent-minded people) reawaken 10-year old threads for no good reason.

We intentionally don't do that anymore. All threads, including old threads that haven't been posted in for years, may receive posts. If someone comments about the thread being old, then we may delete those off-topic posts.

Also, with Vbulletin you could download your PMs to a text file. The feature doesn't seem to exist nowadays.

The forum software that we use doesn't have that feature yet.

well this is embarassing. It is indeed there in the footer of the e-mail and you were right, it was easy to miss. Can this also be added in the in-forum notification/alerts

To help domain name sellers, I would suggest this feature:

So, perhaps everyone knows that you can add upto 10 tags to your post. It would be great of you could see how popular these specific tags are, example how many searches that particular tag get's or how many times that tag is used. With this way, people has easy way to pick best tags for their posts and perhaps find their targeted audience.

You may be able to do that by using the Advanced Search and selecting only the marketplace sections/forums:

So if I wanted to get to the .ca section I could just type in ca.namepros.com

You could also do a simple redirect like namepros.com/ca

I'm always hunting for particular forums, a subdomain or redirect would be very nice to have.

On one of my business sites I publish a subdomain for every page of my site

Neat idea! In the meantime, you could utilize your browser's bookmark bar with a bookmark to each of those sections.

Thats how I do it, I have a namepros folder on my bookmark bar.

Cannot tell you how often I will want to make a post in the Break Room and I have to go hunting for that forum though.

break.namepros.com or namepros.com/break and that would be solved

It would be nice if the search dropdown could have a checkbox for showing the results sorted by date, instead of relevance. I know you can go into the Search function itself but I tend to find that when I search, I am looking for more recent topics rather than those from 2008.

It would just a nice little QoL improvement if it was added.

We should be able to add that in a future release.

Tip: Search Google using site:namepros.com keyword (e.g., "site:namepros.com crypto"). Google's search technology is much better than the one that comes with our forum software.

Is there any chance when scrolling a thread the thread title could stay in a bar at the top? It would be very helpful when going through auction threads; sometimes with several open at once so you could be sure which thread you are on!?
(It's probably just me that gets confused that way )

That would be helpful, along with our logo.

Tip: Hover over the tab in your browser to see the full title of the thread. (That works in many browsers.)

Better search of sales listings.

Search for a tag or keyword and you'll get post from 10 years ago, recent post (weeks ) with more keywords #tags don't show up.

Example search: car domains

A little more keyword weight, relevance with a default sort order of descending date would help sellers and buyers.
