What should I do? I want to buy this domain name, that someone else has already regged the .com for ($300) or I could reg the .org for $7.20.

Do you believe the .com is worth it? (The name is video game related, that's all I'll say).

I know you don't want to disclose the domain name in fear of having someone else here read and register it, but it's really hard to say...it depends on the domain itself.

.com for arcade in my opinion.

If you plan to keep long term.. look at it this way.

$300 now plus $70 for 10 year renewal = $370

You have the name for 10 years for $37 per year.

Best of luck in whatever you decide.

If it is for a long term Development .... Buy the .com ....

If you don't buy the .com - and build up a site on any other extension, You will eventually lose traffic to the .com version IMO

.com all the way. $300 is a small investment if you are serious about developing the domain.

I like the way Dave put that...

.org will take more work ...it also depends how much time you have to put into this 1 domain...also...will the visitors be peeps you already have contact with or search traffic?

people I already have contact with, and it will be a long time development.

The .com has been regged for nearly 4 years, so perhaps I should just admit the fact that it's too bad I didn't reg it that long ago and just put up the cash.

Thanks for the tips. (And it's not an arcade by the way)

.com if you're really going to do anything with it.
Otherwise, find another .com.

buy both.
the dot com is a must, but the dot org would make a nice set.
you could use it for advertising, like bodog.net or pokerstars.net

If for development, spend $307.20. You do the math.

reg the .org first and then pay 300 for the .com the second you finish paying for the org

If you think this is a really good domain buy both as bobdigital suggested. If you gonna buy the .com as might as well reg. the .org

I'd get the .com for $300 if I were you.

For a domain you want to develop, $300 is not enough to offset the advantages of owning the .com. If it was 30K, or some unreasonable figure, then .org would be more palatable. But for 300 bucks, the .com is the only way to go.

Go ahead and get the .COM or else the seller might be reading this thread and increase the price! :D

er when we are sellers we ask for $xxx ... and when we are buyers we expect to pay $8
...the answer to this partic name purchase is first do you have the money, second how valuable is the name and third how important is the project to you .... an end-user analysis.....

Don't forget to buy the .net if still available.

I think there are always alternative names. but $300 does not sound high.
