.mobi What .mobi might be worth more than a .com?

This is total speculation...

Assuming .mobi becomes the extension for the mobile web at some point, what names in the extension do you feel might be worth more than the .com version?

There is no need to point out any anti .mobi stuff in this thread as I have stated this is speculation that the .mobi extension takes off as the extension for the mobile web.

What would those names be, if any?

In my oppinion .mobi only has value for a valid "mobi" name.
For me, ringtones.mobi could be worth alot more than ringtones.com.
But i dont see why people register things like lampshade.mobi.
Its ridiculous

Assuming .mobi takes off as stated above, I feel many names will be on par or surpass .com. Remember, there are billions of cell phones out there and a new generation that loves to use them.

The mobile web could be used for everything that .com is used for, maybe more :imho: . It's simply putting your pc in your back pocket and giving you access to all of that info on the go.

Hold on for the ride because I think this thing is going to take off like wild fire!

Adding to the speculative nature of this thread, can we also assume that .mobi is a default extension for mobile device browsers? If so I think news.mobi could be absolutely huge as people want some quick news while on the go. Weather.mobi could be in that category as well as people want a quick forecast. More valuable than the com? Who knows because they are catering to different markets. But something like tow.mobi or taxi.mobi could certainly be of greater value in .mobi since people on a mobile device may be more inclined to be in need of these services than someone on a pc.

If we can we have some sort of reassurance that it's OK to do that, I may be able let my mind engage in total speculation.

Otherwise I really don't feel like breaching what some may see as an implied term of the peace achieved in the last 'war' thread.

But to think they are going to be worth 'more' than .com... that's overly optimistic.

History is full of examples of overly optimistic, unrealistic speculations that have come true but these are the exceptions, not the rule. Just enjoying the spirit of the thread, then back to work building websites in both com and mobi.
