When the new TLDs first came out, the selling point was you can get the keyword domain you want which would never be available in .COM because there are more than 100 million registered .COMs. As more and more keywords are taken and domainers are often pricing even .XYZs for $XXXX, why would an end user choose to brand on a new TLD which they have to pay a premium for? For $XXXX you can probably buy a .COM.
