(for the newbies registry=TLD operator, registrar=is top approved seller of the registry)

Nowadays more and more registries popup trying to take a slice of the internet domain names pie
All of them gather beside grandfather .com and try to take his meal

I believe it's interesting to discuss how you would like to see a registry if you were approved to launch a new TLD

- Which features you would like to see ?
- What pricing policy you would use ?
- How you would differentiate your TLD from others ?
- How you would keep your TLD fresh ?

For example :
- I like .info because they grab you with their low price but if you want to keep the domain you pay normal price at the renewal

Let us know what do you like or dislike from the current TLD operators, what do you like to fix, create new features for your own as a brand new registry operator !!

I assume from the luck of replies you are either :

- 100% happy the way it is today with no ideas or comments about
- You never imagined to have a registry
- You didn't read this topic

I'm in the last category ;)

If I was to open my own registry, I'd charge a million bucks for sex.tld and retire ;) Or, better still I'd then sell the registry for a million bucks too, and retire :)

OK. I'll have try at these....

- Which features you would like to see ?
I'd like as many registrars as possible selling my .tld

- What pricing policy you would use ?
I'm not so sure I'd go the .info route. Maybe 50% off until I had 1 million registrations. Regular price/renewals would be under $10.

- How you would differentiate your TLD from others ?
I've never been very good at differentiation. I'm good at copying good ideas though.

- How you would keep your TLD fresh ?
I'd advertise it on TV before and after the SuperBowl airs :) I'd go on the the domain forums under pseudonyms periodically praising my tld :) I'd change the nude pictures on the registry, daily. :) I'd offer a free registration to every 10,000th registration.

Well stu your reply (especially regarding sex.tld) cofirms my theory that we're bunnies disguised as humans, that's why we love so much this domain (and pay millions to get it)

Reply accepted, by the way thanks for the domains purchase too

Any other ideas

Features? Hell, I'd just like an easy-to-use control panel for once!

Pricing Policy? Though I know the reasons it's not done, a flat-rate pricing policy (say, $9.99/year) for all extensions would be awesome.

Well that's a nice idea but no

Before some time that i was little bored with domain collection i thought for a registrar but with today's new registration-transfer profits (or even worse to sell lower than you buy with the hope the customer to buy something else profitable for you) i quited this thought
