I like this forum and the opportunities provided here. And my important question is: What is the probability to sell a new domain here, according to your experience? Please rate the probability from 1 to 10, if you wish to share your opinion.

I am asking this only, because I have got some amazing ideas about new domains, but I want to calculate what is the risk to spend my money and then to be unable to sell them in a good, reasonable price.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Totally depends on the names.

Out of probably 30 hand-regs in the past two years, I think I've sold about 3 of them on Namepros (for a profit).

Here ?

The reseller market is flat, and domainers won't pay retail price, they expect to pay reseller price.

You can pretty much forget about it imo.
If you have good domains, end users will find you and you won't have to peddle them on domainer forums for peanuts :gl:

It all depends on the name.
A fresh registration is most likely worth nothing, and unlikely to sell easily for a good profit.
My best sales have always been domains acquired on the aftermarket.
So you need to be able to pick the right domains.

Check out the sales sections on this forum, see what sells and for how much.
The data is there, you just have to compile it yourself.

Formula to calculate domain sales potential

You may have good ideas for domains to register and sell, but the odds are you will register something that few people will be interested in and only pay a small price for. Still, it is possible you are onto something good. The only way to know for sure is to ask those you trust what they think before you buy the domains, or buy the domains and take your chances. Even if the domains don't sell or don't sell for much, you should consider it paying for a cheap education. :)

Now, you have to remember that Namepros is mostly a "wholesale" marketplace, as opposed to other sites like Buydomains.com which is a "retail" marketplace.

As far as the probability of selling a new domain here, you can use this formula to determine it for yourself:
Code:
     q
sp = -
     p

Where sales probability (sp) is equal to the quality of the domain (q) divided by the sales price (p).

The chances of selling the domain will improve with the quality of that domain, but higher the sales price, the lower the chances will be.

Selling domains to domainers is not a good formula...
We all want to buy domains dirt cheap and then sell them for $1,000,000 :)

:talk:

i slghtly revised your code

Code:
     q
sp = -  (# of V)
     p

V = visitors

:)

where the probability rises when more people view your domain sales page/ thread

Where can I put my domain for selling,without paying anything? :) I know some places, but they want to pay for the ad. And if nobody buy your domain you are only losing money.:( I just need a place, where I can show my good domain for free, because I don't want to risk more money. To pay the domain is already enough risk in my point of view.

The major marketplaces like Sedo, Afternic etc are free to join. You pay a commission only when a sale takes place through the marketplace.

I know some places, but they want to pay for the ad.
Domain related places ? Which ones ? :gl:

Oh, really? OK, I will have a try there too! Thanks!!!
(I don't remember the names (domains) of those places. One of them was to sell websites and another one was a forum like this one, where you have to pay and then you can post. Maybe some of the other guys here know which ones I mean.)
