I used to buy and sell domain names quite frequently around 2008-9. To me, at that time the market seemed to be going down. Just wondering, what is the domain name market like these days? In general, or compared to back then.

Thanks!

Reseller Market is dead.

End User Market is on your own skills.

Quality still sells.

Hi

the forums are full of newbies, lowballers and spammers sending emails to people they think are end-users.

the market is persuaded by blog opinions, pricing guides, google keyword tool, bot appraisals and new gtld land grabs.

folks are falling off cliffs like lemmings and everybody is looking to "the wizard" to tell them their next move.

:)

I think it's still a great market. You just have to invest a lot of time into it, just like any other job. If I can sell a $10 domain for $400, everyone can. You just have to find the right buyer, and register domains that people will actually be interested with.

there are always newbies registering questionable value names and other newbies willing to buy them even at higher price.

After most new TLDs bubbles bursted, quality .COMs are still in great demand

There's precious little good information available because what there is gets lost in a virtual sea of spams and viruses, people selling worthless names by spam email and mostly valueless names falsely promoted as being "premium" on the forums, by email and on websites and so many low-ballers bidding on the small minority of good domains available. Combine all that with heavy BOT traffic, the new extensions, the many newbies who know next to nothing and the experienced players who have left the public forums in droves starting about 5 or 6 years ago, making the outlook seem dismal.
