Hi,

I am a beginner in this field, and I have some questions about domains, please!

1- What is Redemption Period status for a domain? When does a domain go into "redemption period" status?

2- I want to register my own domain name for one year, but I will not use it before couple of months, so will that be OK? Can I register my domain name now and keep it for my website to be finished in a couple of months?

1- Redemption period is when the register usually gives you around 30 days to renew the domain name after it has expired. ICANN gives the register 45 days but usually domains registers give you 30 days.
2- Of course :) A lot of domains never have websites, actually.

When a name expires, your registrar typically gives you 30-45 days of "grace period" for you to renew the name for the regular rate. If you don't pay to renew, they send it into the delete cycle. Redemption period is the first stage of this domain deletion process.

During redemption period, you can still renew the name, but the cost will be significantly higher (~$150 or more). After redemption period, the name goes into PENDING DELETE and then is subsequently dropped and becomes available for registration again.
