How long does it take for an expired name that is in the redemption period to be available? Are there other ways of acquiring this names? Thanks in advance!

While in redemption (and you are the owner) only way is to pay the Redemption Fee.
If you are not the owner you just gotta wait for it and hope it becomes available on the market again (if name is Premium the registrar might not release it for a handreg at all).

Different registrars use different Redemption Periods. It' not possible to answer your question without knowing the expiry date. Then use the table above. If the domain is less than 40 days after expiry, it may be on auction somewhere, depending where it is registered. Anything in the Registry Redemption Period, can only be renewed by the Registrant. So you would need to do a private deal with the Registrant. After that, it can only be registered after it drops. The three biggest drop-auction houses are SnapNames/NameJet/DropCatch. If one of these three don't pick it up, there are plenty of others which might. If nobody perceives this domain as having any value, then it will be available for hand-reg at your favourite registrar.
