From 1 day to 10 years or you will hold the name forever if it’s crap name.

It depends.

If you register a domain when it's trending or the market is hyped means that it will likely sell faster (1 day to 6 month)

If you register a non-trending or ordinary domain, it may take longer to sell, often ranging from several months to a few years, as there is less immediate demand and interest in such domains.

But in the domain industry, there is a percentage of luck involved, so even a non-trending or ordinary domain can sometimes sell quickly if the right buyer comes along.

I believe I will not by junck crap names. But 10 years is more because the market may totally change.

I am knowing this business from last 1.5 years but I did not buy anything. I seen some good name but eventually it was a crap. But now I can't wait to enter into this game.

I want to start with just small amount of flip. Which gives me a confident for example profit of $20 to $50.

When you wrote about market hyped name. I was going to register gptquantumverse.com

For analysis, This name alings with market trend and also successful in radio test. And this can be a organisation with quantum technology in GPT in future.

The only reason I step back because the trafic was not good for this keyword. Yes the keywords communications like "gpt" "quantumverse" has good amount of traffic but less when combined.

And because of this one reason I did not buy this name.

@coolhands I wanna know your thought about this name as well. Please tell me have I done right by stepping back or should I start to regret now πŸ₯Ί

Hi

best to proofread what you write, before posting.

poor grammar, misspelled words, can lead to bad registrations.

imo...

Hi,

don't confuse 'search volume" for a word or phrase, as the "actual amount of traffic" that a made up domain using such terms will receive.

you will never know actual traffic, until after you acquire the name.

imo...

Thankyou, I left many domain back just because of not having enough traffic. Maybe in that I left valuable name as well.

This seems like a no question. Domaining is so fluid and unpredictable market that no one can answer this. Hand registered or not, does not mean anything first of all and is therefore no question. Maiden domain is perhaps what it is meant to be. There are few experts who could answer this convincingly for the ever expanding horizon of TLDs are making the market ever so dynamic. You.ai sold for 700,000 $ even the best of the domainer's would not have been to predict. Even some .com names would surprise many since the beginning and it is still as mysterical as it ever was. Yet the life cycle depends upon the quality. Best advice is more you spend time in buying a hand registered domain, the lesser it would take to sell. Some domain quotes are being coined at mind.it.com. Perhaps of interest to you and all.

Thankyou for your time. So I should go with hand reg domain at starting.

At the beginning I was thinking that hand reg is just a time waste but now I realised I was wrong.

.ai was in trending and I missed this stage.

This analysis of sales reported by NamePros members during the first 6 months (almost) of this year indicated an average hold time of 25 months for those that reported hold time. Now that was not just for hand registrations, but 62% of sample were hand registrations.

https://www.namepros.com/blog/analysis-of-namepros-reported-domain-name-sales.1328162/

But, I would agree with what others have posted. It can literally be from a few days to never, with probably the majority of hand registrations never selling. It also depends on pricing, but probably in a complex way.

Majority people said it will never. This hurt me but yes it is reality. Still I would likely to go with hand reg with few margin of profit. Beginning can be slow.

Now after hearing all answers. What I feel is this is really a complex thing to answer.

Hi

.mobi was trending, .co was trending, .xyz was trending, cannabis names were trending, chips were trending, crypto was trending, nft was trending, gpt was trending, hacks were trending and so on and so on.

there will be a lot of bandwagons to jump on, so hold your horses until you can get on one...before it's heading to the finish line.

also, it's NOT about selling to endusers, it's about selling for a profit, no matter who the buyer is.

imo...
