Hi guys !
Its my firsrt post, its really nice forum...and good users also !
Hoping to join you !

Well am abit new to domain names and hosting....
I register a domain name in my coutry, ending with .co.za or co.us or something like tht ! Depending on the country !
Now, when I fill the registration forum, they ask me to point to Primary and Secondary Servers to my choosen Hosting company....
So, I tell my hosting company to create for my a DNS ZONE (dunno wht it is) for the above domain....and then my country registers it !

Now, the question is :-
1) I dont pay anything to my hosting company for DNS zone, until I buy hosting from him....Now is it possible for them to delete my domain from their DNS zone anytime if I dont buy anything from them ?
If so, is the domain still mine or itll be just gone from my hands ?

2) What should i do after registering a domain name ? Do i have to buy a hosting package ? As I want to just sale it again......

3) As per I find it, its really difficult to find .com names which are good, are .org and .net and .co.uk any good to buy ? I mean are they worth it ?
Which other endings are worth buying ? :]

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
You can reg any extension you want (Per extensions requirements)

To host a website or any kind of data on the domain you need to point the domain to a server, using Name Servers - your host should have given these to you by default.
if they are messing you around with NameServers they are not worth their salt, if needed checkout the web hosting requests forum.

If you want to develop a site around your domain name you need hosting.
I am not sure, but i think that some registrars like godaddy provide free basic hosting with domain registrations.

If you decide to sell your domain names after registration, Sedo is the Best Place to sell your domains.
1. Create an account with Sedo.com with ur email ( free email ids from gmail, yahoo, etc are not accepted).
2. Add the domain name to your sedo account using the link at top left in your sedo account page.
3. Go to your Domain account at your registrar and Point the name servers to Ns1.sedoparking.com
Ns2.sedoparking.com

It may take upto 24hrs for the name servers to resolve to your Sedo parking/for sale page

You only need hosting if you want to develop a site, if you just want to sell the name on again, then you don't need hosting.

Thanks all for your replies....
I asking the DNS ZONE question because, I until now they dont have any problems with it.... But wanted to know, incase in future....Can they delete my domain from their DNS zone if they see the site hasnt been developed or is ideal !
Ok, so if I dont have to buy hosting for reselling my domain..wht shld i do ? Just goto sedo and open an account there ? thats all ?
Whats this parking business i hear ? Is it worth it ?

Other thing was, if I dont have a credit/debit card.... Is it possible to do this domain business ?
Via wire transfer or western union, is it possible ?

Any DNS server can remove a site if they don't do what they agreed to. If paid hosting, you must pay. If parking, the site should be parked. You can get independent DNS hosting at zoneedit.com if you need to. Most registrars offers some form of free DNS with domain registration.

You can sell at sedo.com, afternic.com, tdnam.com and several other places. Most allow free listing and charge a commission when sold.

Yes, if you domain gets traffic you can earn income. Yes, even if it doesn't get traffic parking can indicate the domain is for sale and attract sales leads.

Possible, yes...practical...No.
At minimum you probably need a Paypal account.

Good luck.

ohh hoo.... i see !
What about the advertisement they put ? Any idea what kind of adverts they will publish on my domain ?
Because I dont want any adult material or any other low class ads in my site as it wont look nice.......
Is there a possibility to choose the adverts ?

Most of the better paid (you get paid) parking services allow you to pick the keywords that are used for search. If you select carefully, you'll get relevant ads that were paid for that keyword click. Just be careful not to pick keywords that might be consiered to be something you don't want shown.
