What happens when I register a domain name and it shows available then when I go register in 5 minutes it shows not available. I feel like this domain company took a good domain name because I checked whois website and results showed this domain name shows no registration history!!

I believe or maybe I could be wrong but this company took my domain name and It showed 5 minutes previously this name was available..

Any input?

Probably somthing to do with, if you go to register a domain, the site changes it to registered for a while, so no one can come in right behind you and register this on that site while you are filling in your information.
If that happens again, try a different domain site, or wait a while and it should go back to saying "Available"

Wrong and wrong.

Odds are it's an error with the whois info and the domains been registered all along. Your whois query is what's wrong.

There are registrar's that sell search info out, but there's no way this would happen in 5 minutes. In a day? Sure, but not within the time you've mentioned.

What's wrong is the name shows " available " at the domain company when I tried to subscribe and ironically it was taken 5 minutes later. I wonder if I'm being scrutinized closely by google or my domain company. Go figure!!

What's the name and/or when does it say it was registered?

That is exactly the problem B.G.(does not show any history on whois.net). I checked twice and it was available and 5 min's. later it showed gone or not available. This happened to me with another domain co. a while back ago and they stole my name a day later!

I believe some of these companies have software to catch your names if your not carefull with your idea.

Check the name at whois.sc and then tell me when the name was registered.

Yup,

You're absolutely correct that data record shows created on
certain date but no history is recorded where domain was created. It does show domain is in redemption period whatever that means.

Thanx tester,

How you like 1and1 so far! Seem like you register your domains with them.

I have never had any problems with them, theyre cheapest when it comes to .com, which I mostly own.

It's one of the, if not the biggest company, so I dont have to worry to be cheated or that I will loose my domains.

I have heard some stories where other minor domainregistreres have speculate in, to not let you renew your domains, if its a good domainname.

Or stories, where minor domainregistreres monitor what domainname you have searched for, first it is free the next week, it has been registered, guess whom.

I know 1and1 never would do that. So I trust them a lot. It is easy to edit the config for your domains, but there account control panel is so slow to load, that I some times are 1 sec. from crying :)

I can truthfully recommend them to anybody, use them to buy and keep you domains safe. But host your website else where :)

The links in my sig are under development :) hopefully soon they will be up.

Off topic, but I would never ever, never never never trust 1and1 . Do a search here on namepros or on any other domain forum. they are one of the worst registries in the industry.

Alex,

I just used them for registering domain names only because it's cheap and includes free private registration and other perks. Their customer service has improved big time which is 24hours a day.
