For the benefit of us and whomsoever it concerns, i hope someone would come by and explain briefly on the stages the domain goes through (cycle) after the date mentioned in the (who.is) is reached. This, so that we are clarified of the terms expired/expiring/backorder/dropping/dropcatch and whatever is worthy of mentioning from the domainer point of view.

For most domains (not all)
There is a post expiration grace period, that can last up to 45 days, but is generally shorter.
After that, there is a 30 day redemption period
After that, there is a 5 day deletion period.

Then the domain is released to the public
