My team is currently (and I mean now...lol) developing a Social Networking site on a .mobi extension. Our biggest struggle over the last few days was settling on a profile UI design to be compatible with most mobile devices.

The site is being coded in php and mysql.

Planned Features For BETA:
-Custom Profiles w/Pics
-Blogs
-PM systems
-Comments w/pic
-Friends
-Bulletins
-Music uploads via PC
-Videos uploads via PC
-Pic upload via PC
-ability to edit via mobile device or web.

Do any of you have any thoughts or ideas about a site like this? We have big plans for this site on both branding and marketing and just want to see what the community has to say.

Thank you,

Michael :)

social networking site on mobile phones will end up becoming huge and its a good idea, but i think it will be hard to get many people to join, at least in the U.S., right now since not many people even use the internet at all on their phones. 2 or 3 years from now your site could become huge though. good luck with your project.

Here is a great article from last year on Mobile Social Networking:

I think it may catch on alot faster then you think.

I like what you have done so far. I think what people will really want is a full blown version on their PC not the mobile version. I would love to see your script detect if a person is using a PC and display the content accordingly.
