What are the best letters?

Recently I took a sample of 2600 4 letter domain names and checked which domains had been taken. I stratified the sample so that each letter was placed in each of the four positions an equal number of times. I found 605 domains that were unregistered and so that leads me to believe that close to 106000 4 letter domains are unregistered. After examining the domains that were not registered, I found that the letter "C" was the least common remaining letter appearing only 31 times while "Q" appeared a little over 200. This leads me to believe that around 92% of the four letter domain names with the letter "C" in them are registered as opposed to 50% of the domains with the letter "Q" in them. "A" and "S" appeared 41 times and everything else appeared 68 or more times. "M" and "N" were the 4th and 5th least common letters which suprised me as I thought T, D and E would be more popular.

By my little test, it would appear that the letter C, A, and S are the in the highest domand with C being the most popular. Does this seem logical? Is C the most popular letter for short domains?

I would think "E", IMHO ... but there is no way in the world I can challenge your "math" (nicely summarized above, as well)! :tu:

Q, X, Y, Z are commonly considered not the "best" for letterings, generally IMHO.
