Hope people are enjoying these and getting to learn more about their fellow NPers!
Today's q is about heros...... what individual has had the biggest single impression on your life? It doesn't need to be someone you personally know. But just someone - living or dead - that has left an imprint of some kind on your life.
My answer: When I was in my early 20's, I met a really great man. I worked with him on writing out his memoirs for his grandchildren to have. This was over a period of about 2 years. This man was a German Jew and had been in a Nazi concentration camp. Escaped and then went back to rescue his future wife and her mother. Ended up settling in Canada. This man was remarkable not just for that but that he came to a new country, not speaking the language and ended up building a very successful business, getting involved in politics and was supportive in the community in general. He showed me what drive, determination and what wanting the best life for your family and loved ones can do. Sure we all HEAR of stories like this but to actually get so immersed in the trials and tribulations one man went through to get to where he ended up was truly amazing and inspiring for me. (He passed away several years ago.)
My own dad is probably ahead of him as far as impact goes but talking about my dad is a little more cliche :hehe:
Anyone else want to share?
