They keep pushing back the date... I thought they were supposed to initially be done the RFP process in December, then February, and now almost May we still haven't heard back.

phoned them a week or so back.
they said end of this month/beginning of next. they were overloaded with applications allegedly.
we can raise it with pinkmeister when he comes online soon

Assuming Pinky shows up the week of May 7 I'm sure this will be one of the top questions.

Kinda funny actually... How wouldn't they be flooded when they're giving away XXX,XXX names for practically free?

It's not for free. Part of the RFP is that you have to tell .mobi how much you will pay them for the name.

I knew it wasn't for free and everyone paid an application fee but I thought that was it and the selection was based upon the site proposal. There was a private bid factor to the RFP also?

Yes that's what I thought also. Kind of sad otherwise... Will just end up going to the biggest domainers/large corporations.

Maybe it's supposed to be subtle, like a check taped to the back of your proposal :) (made out to Mr Pinky of course)

Last I heard it was to be, maybe, the "end of April" (ie., now) ... hopefully Mr. Pinky can clarify this and several other very important .MOBI points at his next visit to Nameprosโ„ข? I'd like to know, specifically, what, if any, fees are associated with the application process ... for the four (4) initial RFP's, and going forward as well.
I, too, think this process should be fair ... and based on merit and site proposal IMHO. To do otherwise, may threaten the future of the "ecosystem", in my view. :guilty:

See you soon.

Well. Next Monday is another business day and the last day in April, hopefully we will know by then.

It's also good to hear they are loaded with applicants wanting those names. If they are in high demand that is very good for mobi.

:D

As long as they don't announce they are giving these names away to domainers (traffic auction) then I'm happy.

they have been bad un updates.
personally think next couple of weeks as they were quite vague when i spoke to them.
the positives are:
1/ lots of interest
2/ they want to make the right decision which will be good for everyone

negatives:
1/ longer for these sites to get developed & thus feed the 'ecosystem'
2/ we are kept waiting longer lol

ho well. it happens when it happens. i guess a couple of weeks won't kill anyone

I thought someone around here said they spoke to them and they said they will be announcing the winners at the end of april. I also checked the site before and it now says april(instead of march) aswell.

As long as they announce the winners within a year I'll be happy, but I would like to know soon.

Announcement on Monday, April 30th?!?!? :guilty: :|

:-/

Personally, I think this is a critical time for the extension and there are a LOT of unanswered questions (including these four (4) initial RFP's!), in my view. I truly feel that these concerns are widespread amongst the .MOBI Communityโ„ข - as I've posted before, some of the PM's and Email's that I've been receiving would borderline on the discouraged, if not depressed, with their investments to date - and I do worry daily, as most of you know, for the End user / developed "ecosystem", IMHO. :o

The longer the delay in building out the developed "ecosystem" ... the more opportunity for the .COM's to also dominate the Mobile Web, in my view! :gl: :talk:

Hopefully candor and detailed answers are forthcoming very shortly!
