Donny,

It's understandable that Traffic needs to be Clean or of high quality in order to exist with Voodoo or any other Google Based Platform....is this a major reason why Google just decides to shut accounts! I have heard that this trend happens quite often that entire accounts are closed and all revenue is lost with it....!

Because domainers are building links while their domains are parked as you explain above? Does that affect your traffic quality scores?

What can domainers do to maintain traffic quality so their accounts do not get banned or closed? How do you control what others are doing on your domains while parked?

I am new to this and still purchasing domains through auction...no one wants to lose $$$$....especially when you invest so much time!

Learning is the key and learning from knowledgeable people like yourself is vital to our survival

your thoughts are always appreciated!

rangersguy - I have been running domain parking businesses for 11 years now. I have never seen Yahoo, Google, or anybody for that matter terminate an account because the traffic was good. That wouldn't make any sense for any company to get rid of good traffic.

Both Yahoo and Google either block/terminate domains or block/terminate accounts. Let's say you have 100 domains in your account and they get say 200 visitors a day, you make $2.00 a day. And you buy some domain at an auction or something and it gets 10,000 visitors a day and makes $200. If either company decides the quality of the traffic on that domain is crappy, they will just terminate that one domain, not all of the domains in the account.

At the same time, let's say you have 20 domains in your account and all 20 of them have that same crappy traffic, then they will probably terminate the account.

99.9% of the people who have their account terminated know why they have their account terminated. If 10 accounts are terminated today, I would expect only 1 person to respond to the termination. And that one person who does respond usually is just trying to figure out if they will get paid or not.

Hope this makes sense.

Donny,

What is the best tool for checking out whether or not a domain has quality traffic? I mean if you were to look at auctions or domain sellers they will tell you "This domain has so and so traffic" but how can you trust that data?
In your professional opinion where is the best and most reliable website to check for most accurate stats!

thanks for listening!

I don't know of any tool that you can check to see the quality of traffic before you buy a domain name. I've never heard of anything like that before.

Traffic Stats and Quality Traffic are two different things!

I will assume you are buying your domains through an auction in hopes of getting domains with existing backlinks.

You can take the domain you have bought or are thinking of buying and use a variety of backlink checking tools and see where those incoming links are coming from. If you have a pet related domain, but all your incoming links are on sites about auto parts, then that is a potential source of low quality traffic. On the other hand, if your pet domain has backlinks coming in from pet related websites then that is more likely to be looked at as high quality traffic.

Also, if the backlinks are buried in a site on a page where no one will find them or if they are simply spam blasted links in different forums and blogs, they are probably junk!

Google's thing is to give the advertiser quality shoppers and give the customers quality places to find what they want, not make domain owners money. Yes, we help them get their ads out there and earn revenue, but if too many advertisers get honked-off because they are paying for irrelevant clicks due to poor traffic(clickers that happen upon a link that wasn't really what they wanted but clicked anyway) they will stop advertising!

Before you buy anymore domains, you should probably visit the thread below. It has some really good info and tool suggestions.

I just parked a bunch of domains with VOODOO... I hope all is good with them. I'm actually impressed from what I've heard.

A few questions from newbie

Dear Donny,

I’m new to Voodoo and have parked about 15 domains a few days ago. My questions are

1) Under the Domain Manager, if I set the Domain Type to Auto Optimization, do I still need to key in the keywords?
2) Under Domain Manager, there are “keywords” and “keyword magic” fields. Do I need to fill in the keywords?
3) Since the domains websites are generated automatically by Voodoo, will people keying the keywords on the search engine show up the website? Will these automatically generated websites indexed by the search engines?
4) Am I right to say domain name contain keywords will fare better in Voodoo than other no general words domain?

If your domains don't have any traffic it won't matter if you even parked them in Buckingham Palace!

@Donny-
I have sold some names. If I delete them from my Voodoo account, will they be deleted from past stats and will the revenue I made be deleted from my past totals?

I don't want to mess with my stat/revenue history. I assume they won't affect anything, but I know what happens when I assume!!! :)

What is Donny trying to tell you by not answering is "No, your previous stats won't be affected if you delete any of your domains" :)

Sorry, I have been a little swamped the past few days and haven't had a chance to check here. We have never been known to make a bunch of posts or emails that say hey we added X or Y, because it allows us to have a few people test it out without us having a bunch of bugs in it.

If you delete a domain, the stats will still be there. :)

1) Under the Domain Manager, if I set the Domain Type to Auto Optimization, do I still need to key in the keywords?
A. Auto-optimize is whether the domain is a 1 click lander or a 2 click lander.
2) Under Domain Manager, there are “keywords” and “keyword magic” fields. Do I need to fill in the keywords?
A. You can fill in the keyword if you like or just leave it alone. It's up to you. As far as the "Keyword magic" system it's something that we have that makes other recommendations based on your domain.
3) Since the domains websites are generated automatically by Voodoo, will people keying the keywords on the search engine show up the website? Will these automatically generated websites indexed by the search engines?
A. Yes and no. Some search engines index the domains, some don't.
4) Am I right to say domain name contain keywords will fare better in Voodoo than other no general words domain?
A. Domains with traffic work the best at the end of the day. You can have computer.com, but if it gets no traffic than it won't make any money.

Thanks Donny. However regrading your answer "Auto-optimize is whether the domain is a 1 click lander or a 2 click lander". I'm not too sure about 1 or 2 click lander, could you explain a bit in details.
Also, "Domains with traffic work the best". Do you mean people reaching the domain website by key in the address on the browser (since the domain previous website would not be around anymore)

Stevekent - A 1 click lander vs 2 click lander is pretty simple. A 1 click lander shows ads immediately on the page when a surfer goes to the page. A 2 click lander shows related keywords and then you have to click on those keywords to see the ads.

A 1 click lander in most cases will give you a higher CTR, but a lower RPC. The question is do you make more money or not is really up to the domain.

Parking a domain is not designed to get you traffic, it's designed to help you make money or monetize the traffic that you already have. If you have domains that get no traffic at all, parking the domain is probably not the best idea. But if you are like me and have domains that you have no plans on developing, parking is a perfect option.

Hope this helps.

Decided to join voodoo.com and yesterday earned $0,43 on 1 click at one of my 3 word domains :) Like it!
Moved around 50 names from voodoo.tv to voodoo.com :)

New to this... I heard domain parking is out the door with Googles new algorithmic technique etc.

Ohhhh... this is for natural hits on the domain... ok Donny.. thanks.. I am like you and dont have websites.. just a whole bunch of names.. that i'm actually considering auctioning off.

Do you sell or auction any of your domiains.. and if so how do you appraise them and where to you put them in auction.

Thanks Donny

When does the RPC show up? At the end of the day?

zapdaddy - We provide estimated visitors, searches, and clicks within 5 minutes for today's stats. But we don't estimate revenue, we only show final revenue when we receive it from all of our providers. Which usually happens by 9am PST.
