Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Probably best if you don't advertise the price of a gd expiring auction till it's confirmed, right?

I guess it doesn't matter, as the auction is already over.

That's quite funny, I'd give that go..!

I would like the "Sexiest Man Alive Award" please.

Any movie buffs around here?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a scene in Steven Spielberg's "Minority Report" where Tom Cruise's character goes into a "VR parlor" in a mall, and one of the linked-in patrons is receiving a VR "award experience" with folks crowded around him saying, "You're the man!" (Or did I just hallucinate that whole scene... :lookaround:)

I just remember one guy wanting to kill his boss in VR in that movie :)

I like exact match VR+ names, but I also like brandable names that exude the qualities you would expect from a VR company.

Nobody placed an order with them or that is the landing page they display before the domain is assigned/auctioned?

I don't use DC unless I really want a name and I get auction notifications etc.. so I'm not up to speed with their exact procedure.

I assume someone backordered...

It's a good reminder why it's a bad idea to post specific info on upcoming drop lists.

It's not a bad idea at all, let's not get into that convo once again for the 5th day.

FranceVR.com isn't that spectacular of a name, as France really loves their .FR domains. You will find that selling geo related .coms where there are applicable ccTLDs is not easy.

If you are going to reg a VR+Geo / Geo+VR domain, make sure it's within a country that loves .COM.

Thank you, however I was interested in the finer details of the procedure DropCatch (DC) follows immediately after they catch a domain. DC holds public auctions when there are multiple orders so I was interested in knowing if they show that default page for every domain they catch or if that is what happens when a single backorder is placed.

I saw one yesterday where that default page showed, and then it pointed to huge domains. It looks like HugeDomains used DC to catch a domain, as the WhoIs indicates that they are the owner.

So I am guessing that this is the page that shows when a single order was placed, and they are executing the transfer to an individual person.

Guess I answered my own question :)

Look, if you enjoy having to pay $69 for a drop catching service for every name you "like", that's your prerogative, post away. I've no beef with the link in your sig, even though it irks me a little bit. But posting the domains on the thread, that's just not cool and your only shooting yourself in the foot. :-/
