Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Look, if you enjoy having to pay $69 for a drop catching service for every name you "like", that's your prerogative, post away. I've no beef with the link in your sig, even though it irks me a little bit. But posting the domains on the thread, that's just not cool and your only shooting yourself in the foot. :-/

If Microsoft or google decided to launch a VR app, they will have a product name for it, they wont be grabbing VRapp as their domain name...you only have to look at the history of these big companies...something like GoogleVR.com or VGoogle.com would make sense to them, the same as GMail.com GoogleDrive.com, GoogleGlass, com, they TM it and then register they names to go with the TM

Internally, such line extension can make sense. To the marketplace, it might not so much - especially if there's competition that can take them on and it's an important enough category to the market. But I agree - they likely would want something a little less generic than VRApp/s for a name to work with. Some line extension results egs.: http://ries.typepad.com/ries_blog/crazy_lineextensions/

I've gotten 21 uniques and clicks today, 3 uniques yesterday and 12 uniques last 7 days for virtualblackjack.net mostly from China - probably bots or not, but haven't got an offer yet.

Really not sure what's going on.

Not wanting to pop any expectations you might have but I would not draw any conclusions from that for a while.

I have bought many a name dropped and otherwise that had been hosted sometime before and was part of fake seo/traffic numbers obtained by script from other places.
Many times, the script/pointers are not removed.
The hacks have so many crazy schemes to make someone think the domain has traffic, they take no time to remove them afterwards.
But those numbers go down eventually after the sites generating them go down.
You would really need to look close to sort through it.
Look for all references in google search 100pgs deep for your domain for a idea. Not realistic to do but I have done it when the number were higher than that..

Just pointing out the possible not necessarily the probable.

Any movie buffs around here?

I've got a VR movie for you - but it's not quite VR in the sense we know here.

The best VR movie I ever saw was Brainstorm. It freaked me out to no end - and still does. It's about scientists that discovered a way to transfer what someone sees and experiences to someone else - hence you "virtually" experience something else that really isn't there. This technology (in the movie) was used/co-opted in many different ways including "virtual" sex and even "virtual" torture. Both of these last two uses really scared the beejeabers out of me.

The adoption rate , the extent to which consumer virtual reality ' picks ' of virtual reality is also very high. The number of sales of virtual reality headsets will increase by about 13,150 % over the next three years, which is extremely high. For comparison, the iPhone 5 had an increase of 2750 % over one and the same persons . This means that the adoption rate of vr glasses as much as 5 times higher .

Well, i'm not into great expectations for this domain name, by the way not for all my domains.

Just, this increased number of traffic today took my attention and there were not a such kind of views until a week - domain name was registered a month ago.

I noticed that there's referral about Chinese search engine called Baidu.

No regs for me today.

How did they find it? Was it a listing or outside intrest?

Probably with a whois lookup. It was through email.

Having a category killing name is a plus no matter how you look at it.
Many buy a broad generic and forward it to their name page.
Natural Traffic has value. If you don't take it, your competitor might.
Of course, tru went belly up for other reasons and bankruptcy judge ordered toys.com to auction. Lost track of it after that.

That may be the case, but big companies don't seem to agree if you look at the names they own

Toys-R-Us / Toys.com

Super-prem name like this are are little different, you cant compare vrapps.com to Toys.com (Toys.com sold for $5.1 million back in 2009, still in the top 15 domain sales of all time)

Today's hand regs dot king:

VRSkillGames
VRSkillGame
VRSkillGaming

When you have the virtual hands you have more options. When you play vr games with added controllers this will add extra features to games. When you compete against someone else for real money...
