Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Here's food for thought for you all. I'm not trying to burst anyone's bubble but just make you think.

VR headsets like Oculus and Samsung etc are output devices, just like smart phones and tablets.

There is a very good chance that the "VR" trend wont go super mainstream like we all hope.

What may happen is every current site in existence will be able to detect if its on a VR output device and then display the relevant content.

e.g. PCs get the PC/laptop content.
e.g. Smart phones get the phone content.
e.g. Tablets get the tablet content.
e.g. It's very possible that anything with a headset gets the headset content / view of that site.

It's possible that VR+Keyword and so forth may not be as hot as we all think/hope it will be.

I mean how hot is phoneporn, tabletporn right now?

True, VR is new cutting edge uncharted territory so it might be a totally different game as VR is a place to be not just an output device.

Anyway I'm drinking and was just thinking of the other side of the coin. Just food for thought.

P.S. I own 400+ domains in the HOLO/VR space so not knocking anything just thinking outloud.

I was wondering that myself. Maybe the vr + keyword isn't required. And just keyword will cover it as like you said vr is an output. Hope not as I have a few reg'd domains now. But only time will tell.

well.. the way I see it is .. do I really want to take a chance thinking my vr ammo won't be worth more than 10$ in next 12 months, $20 in next 24 months.. or $50 in next 5 years... or even $100 in next 10 years if your young enough to live that long..

as far as gambles go, this is not a bad one at all.

I am from europe and the current saving accounts rates are 1%.

Investing in VR domains is because of the risk/reward ratio a good opportunity. Of course you don't want all your money and assets invested in domains. But when you have money to spent and don't want to a casino or to invest in a stock bubble... A couple of months ago until now i registered 100 adult/gamble .com domains for reg fee: โ‚ฌ850,- Even when VR domains are not breaking through this or next year i had more fun now with all the hype then going to casino and put โ‚ฌ850,- on black or make some banker take my money.

just my obervation so take it only as thoght food.. as far as I can see and tell, registering double Rs is no good. whereas finding an R kw for vr is more valuable than a non R keyword. of course keyword itswlef makes all difference, but for similar valued keywords, the cool sound and appearence of R keyword, will make it more valuable than nonR.

as in VRobert more value than VRhubert.

something like that.

I have not and would not register a double R vr.

You keep going on about this bro, but if people think they can turn a profit by regging domains with the double R then why knock it? I personally think there's money to be made with and without the double R. There will be a buyer for both.

e.g. VROME (as in virtual rome the city) and VRROME (virtual reality rome). I'm pretty sure if I had a buyer in rome they'd be interested in both regardless of the RR.

I said before, people will be more likely to type in "vr rome" into google than "v rome".

Just my opinion of course.

:alien2:

P.S. I don't own either, was just using the above domains as an example.

I go about my opinion.. you go qabout yours. that's the thing about opinions.. they keep going and going and going.. maybe you are right about what people type in.. but aside form what they type there is also sheer domain look and value.. and as far as I am concerned there is a reason why vrun is take and vrrun is not.. and pretty much all other similar examples.

ti's all good.

Just my opinion, but the whole 'v as in virtual' theme has been around since the internet as started. That's why a lot of the V+Keywords are taken already. Not to mention its one character + the keyword.

Think of any popular keyword then add any single character to the front of it, more than likely it will be taken. Try it and let me know.

VR+Keyword is a newish trend. It's nothing to do with the V+keyword vs VR+keyword like your implying.

Anyway if get what I'm saying and still disagree so be it. I'm just trying to give the likely reason it is the way it is.

:alien2:

P.S. VRRUN was taken in July 31, 2008. I was going to buy that domain myself if it was free. VR Run (exercise/runners/running code) Pretty hot 5 character domain. I'd snap that right up. If you notice any single keyword, short VR+R..... domains not taken, let me know!

all good
I actually notice plenty of VR+Rkeyowrd domains not taken during my searches.

I wish I knew you wanted them so I could take them down, but I did not.

I was very clear from stqart I am not trying to deliver knockout to anhyone by saying this. I am simply sharing experience and talking here. like everyone else. including you.

I could not care less if you take double RR domains. and neither should you care if I chose not to take them.

I prefer the double r version. As some have said, single letter v+keyword has been around forever. VR is acronym for Virtual Reality having just the v+keyword it does not reflect virtual reality. You just have to advertise it like:

Fyi these are examples I do not own any r keywords,

VRRaw.Com
vrRaw.com
VRraw.com

Just use upper case lower case to have it look better

Picked up a few "headset" names.. some today, some a long time ago.. Hard to say if headset domains will take off or not. But I did sell one a couple years ago for low x,xxx, but that's the only interest so far.

headsetxxx
headsetmovies
headsetgames
headsetapps
headsetcases
headsetdating

among others... Yup, I have too many domains..

good for you.

find your thing then stick to it :)

I think we'd all by lying if we said domaining doesn't involve bit of personal touch and taste to it. preferences...

as far as I am concerned, when I registered the coupe R keywords I was able to find with a V in front of it. like VRelationship.. I totally had Virtualreality in mind. and I still do. and for better or worse, I probably cant be convinced otherwise.

cheers ;)

No of course each to their own. I was just trying to make you see it from a different perspective. It's always good to keep an open mind. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what domain is or how it looks, as I said before, its whether or not we think we can turn a profit that counts.
