Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

A decent way to pick domains is if the Keyword has sold before for +10K in the past. If it hasn't I personally would stay away. I try to follow this rule however sometimes I go with my gut and in those cases I usually find my gut wrong.

haven't all or most single keywords we use after vr around here sold for a lot before?

See some people will amend this rule and say there has to be at least five +10K sales using that Keyword or instead of 10K they will say 25K.

Using past history to predict future trends.

But there is also another factor which is Time. If something was sold for +30K 10 years ago and there haven't been any recent big sales, is the VR+Keyword still going to be a good buy ?

I'm just thinking out loud here, it might help others.

yep.. all more than decent strategies.. I'm sure you did your research and thinking..

but sometimes it's about gut feeling too.. common sense.. logic.. etc..

I know everyone hates estibot.. to me it is accurate on relative value prediction.. it takes real figures from search volumes etc.. and I don't know enough about it, but I'm think that if a domain you check with estibot was sold before X times.. or once.. it will take that into account to great extent in giving its value.

for instance before I took vrtrademarks I checked trademarks.com with estibot. it said 330k.

I hqave no idea how many times before trademarks.com was sold.. or if ever at all.. but this is not some random number. I only use estibot for relative values.. not the price$ itself.. but more like search results check etc... however, when it comes to established serious money domains like trademarks.com or beach.com or whatnot.... I think estibot is actually going with past sales values on those.

maqybe someone with more experience can confirm this.
