Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Survios expands Raw Data with player-versus-player and PlayStation VR integration

Survios keeps improving its flagship virtual reality shooter game Raw Data. Today, the Los Angeles company is announcing that it will add player-versus-player (PvP) combat to the game soon, allowing players to shoot each other all they want in multiplayer online combat.

Survios is also adding PlayStation VR integration, and it will formally launch the game out of Steam Early Access in September 2017. The new PvP experience allows players to battle each other in “Eden vs. SyndiK8” competitive matches using their favorite heroes, weapons, and special abilities. The updated game has new maps, revamped abilities, and locomotion move sets.

Intel: ‘We want to bring VR to Esports’ With The Challenger League
At today’s Intel press conference from E3 2017 Ru Weerasuriya, the Co-Founder and CCO of Ready at Dawn came onstage to talk about the company’s upcoming game, Lone Echo. Up until now its multiplayer, the Echo Arena, was believed to be part of the same release in one package but today we learned it is getting a separate, free release on Rift.

During the presentation Echo Arena’s competitive side was played up significantly and Intel announced what’s being referred to as the VR Challenger League, an Esports competition focused specifically on competitive VR games. Insomniac’s The Unspoken and Ready at Dawn’s Echo Arena are the two games mentioned for the new league competitions. The finals will be held in Poland in 2018 at the Intel Extreme Masters... Report: Public VR Awareness Almost Doubling Annually with PSVR & Gear VR Leading the Way

Interesting article regarding public awareness of VR... I took special note of the purchase interest demographic info including "27% of people aged between 25-34 said that they intended to buy a VR headset." (e.g. there's approx. 45 million of these folks in the U.S. alone... If 27% of this demo purchased VR headsets they would - all by themselves - easily surpass all the VR headsets sold in the world to date! ;))

Intel and Ubisoft sucked at this year's E3 IMO, I expected at least twice more VR news...sad, anyway I have a feeling that Sony will have some awesome stuff to announce in about 4 hours. My bet is for at least 5 games to be revealed.

A lot of in-person VR centers/arcades are starting to pop up now (they mention this being true in China especially). VR is becoming more accessible to the public every day. Stuff like this will be huge for public awareness by the average non-tech person:

I agree. They're popping up everywhere.

I live near a tourist town named Pigeon Forge that is in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, (more commonly just called the 'Smoky Mountains'). It is a place full of go karts, wax museums, titanic museum, shopping, restaurants, attractions, amusement parks (Dollywood being the largest one there), etc, etc.

They opened a VR arcade there recently:

https://www.vrpigeonforge.com/

Funny thing is, I had the domain in my cart last year and didn't register it, and when I went back to get it, they had already regged it.

I did register SmokyMountainsVR and the reverse shortly before that however. It's the most visited national park in the US. It gets type in traffic about every day.

This is also an example where VR can double as 'vacation rentals', as some websites use it. Vacation rentals are huge there.

sounds like good price!

well.. many (endusers) like to have their adjective before VR.. and I don't blame them.. but.. others just like to have VR in front of their VR related domain.. no matter if its adjecrive or noun after.. like its some kind of industry standard to them.. or the only thing they saw or heard of before.. we gotta remember endusers are not domainers.. and allt he naming conventions known to domainers may not be known to them... endusers mostly see VR+kw on tv or what not.. and they'll soon think its the only way to own a VR domain.. so it'll all depend what enduser we get one day. let's hope we both make good roi. cheers.

In my opinion, Keyword + VR is more brandable than VR + Keyword. So in this case buyers will be more likely to choose KinkyVR over VRKinky.

Remember, this is JMO, and I could be wrong. Cheers!

I don't belive in this VR+keyword vs keyword+VR dispute that is going on. I belive in combinations that makes sense (that doesn't mean the reverse of that domain would be worthless). For example I prefer SocialVR over VRsocial, VRheadset over headsetVR.

From my experience:

VR + NOUN is usually better than NOUN + VR

ADJECTIVE + VR is usually better than VR + ADJECTIVE

VR + VERB is usually better than VERB + VR

it all depends on keywords and the buyer. its that simple.
the fact that vr+kw is way older naming convention with more regged than kw+vr equivalents... is just that.. a fact.. that no one can deny.. but this can mean nothing to future domain sales... tough it can mean that endusers, who are not domainers and many have no clue about domains, are more familiar with vr+kw cause its seen in more places and been round for longer.... but like I Said, it's all up to enduser what he'll want to buy in the end. not me or you. cheers.

yep good rules. in general they would apply I think
exceptions always will happen.
but all in all.. its just about what enduser wants. most are clueless abotu rules or vr naming conventions or domain ages or what came before what. cheers.

Yes, that's just general. I agree it definitely depends on the specific word !

Here we have already seen vr sales that do NOT conform to that rule, being free and on sale vr noun and noun vr, the end users have preferred the second.

So we'll have to wait.

Top ten of 360 sales in Namebio is an example of how rules are not always met:

local360.com51,000 USD 2012-01-25 Afternic
trade360.com 42,500 USD 2014-04-30 GoDaddy
lab360.com 40,000 USD 2015-04-01 Sedo
trip360.com 35,000 USD 2016-04-06 Uniregistry
